Slovakia v England match thread

I saw some very worrying things in that Slovakia game. On quite a few occasions all our players were within a 20 yard square. Often when the ball was on one side of the field, the opposite wide payer was pretty much central, therefore offering no width at all. I can understand condesing the field against superior opposition, but agaisnt Slovakia we should have been making that pitch as big as possible. Sterling and Lallana should have been hugging the touchline all game, creating space and channels.

Allardyce needs to change his mentality quick. He still thinks hes the underdog and his first instinct in not to lose instead of playing to win.

Oh, and that fucking pube headed twat thinking hes Pirlo.

its only one game. i dont think you can judge his team or the way we play for a few games yet properly. the underdog/good defense is exactly what we need in tournaments. we should follow the lead of wales. poorer quality players then us, defended great, worked as a team. as long as we get through qualifying though I couldn't care less if we play shit.

There's a bit of cause and effect here.
Lallana isn't a winger, and is more effective infield.
Also because Rooney was wandering where he wanted, there was no midfield support for the front three, which made them look worse than they were.

It doesn't matter who plays or who coaches them. They are no better than Iceland, Wales, Ireland etc.
The problem is that nobody is willing to accept it. Kinda like the dippers.

Possession is often a false stat. It all depends where that possession is. As for 5 shots on target, they must have
been grass cutters straight at the keeper. I can't remember us really pressuring them, despite all that possession.
It was all slow and cumbersome and the movement up front was fucking atrocious. It was commented on by
the pundits. Sam need to tell our forwards, that it's up to the defenders to mark them. Not the other way round.
I really want England to do well, but am slowly losing patience, with the dross that is getting served up.
Come on, that's not football as we know it, or want it.

the majority of players who played against iceland are good players, you can't just drop all of them because we didn't play well - not exactly a big pool of players to pick from either.

Maybe not them all, but people need to be made an example of - to pick 10 of the 11 is ludicrous

Also, it wasn't just the Iceland game, we were shit V Portugal in the friendly and poor in the 3 group games

Rubbish. Apart from Kanes's miss kick, how many chances did we actually create.
If reckon most of those 20 shots they are on about, were overhit crosses.
We created very little from the possession we had, i don't call that a slaughter.
As for they couldn't get in our half, they very rarely tries. Think they were happy
for a draw and to let us come onto them. They knew we weren't good enough
to break them down. They played the same as in the Euros and so did we.

Watching Spain and then England, was a pretty shocking reality check. We are inferior technically and tactically, but much as i would like to, i cannot blame BFS. The FA have been found wanting for years regarding planning for the future, player development, coaching etc. They have priced the " coaching courses " as though they were a commodity to maximise profit , which has been a spectacular failure football-wise. Foreign coaches dominate in the prem, obviously the FA courses dont work and never have. Until the FA as it exists is recognised as the cosy club for non-achieving London-centric amateurs, a quarter-final slot will be the best we can realistically hope for.
