the problem is with barry he is there to react and by the time he gets going as you say the ball has gone and the opposing plyer has normally shown him a clean pair of heels

Well thats where Barrys excellent reading of the game comes in. He rarely gets caught out in possession nor puts himself in a position where someone can cause him a problem.
