just to be fair, several of those on the glacial list i have seen play in charity/exhibition games, and against your average to high level amateurs they were anything but slow. Watching from the touch-line as opposed to halfway up the Kippax is quite an eye-opener.

Gerard Wiekens and Ged Brannan weren't exactly racehorses, with the latter being an absolute fucking carthorse!.

Quinny was pretty slow as were Megson, Reid and McMahon.

Kit Symons too.

I was always startled by Paul Moulden's lack of pace (especially arriving at M.R. with his Guiness Book of Records goal stats at schoolboy level). Surely I was not alone?

I've read all the posts to see if he had been mentioned & yours was last!

I read an interview with him years after he retired in which he said he knew in his first senior game that he was too slow as he had yards start on a centre half who caught him with ease. He went on to say that Joe Royle couldn't believe how slow he was when he bought him at Oldham.

For an attacker I seem to remember Rick Holden operating at a speed I could only describe as Glacial.

Ha ha forgot about him! Sat in the Stretford End for the Derby we hit post a couple of times and Brightwell got out paced and they scored 2 offside goals. Not pleasant at all. Sure he barely played after that.

Lucky you! I still have nightmares about him! ;-)
