Smoke bombs are not flares.

this, honestly don't mind them one bit, obviously the guy at villa yesterday was an absolute be11end and deserved to get booted out/arrested, but if they are let off there is no denying they add to the atmosphere, if somebody wants to let one off when we score and hold it or put it on the floor in front of them they'll be no issues at all with that from me.

-- Mon Oct 21, 2013 9:01 am --

Oh and change the title to 'smoke bombs yet again'

Big difference

If one was set off next to your 10 yr old would you be botherd then

-- Mon Oct 21, 2013 9:15 am --

Can a mod change the title to smoke bombs yet again please

Re: Flares yet again

I think part of the problem is the over the top punishment for having them. Im not making excuses for them but its no surprise people throw them/drop them in silly places with the risk of having a 3 year ban over them. Obviously to me this means not taking them at all but some people want to use them and its understandable

Whilst not sure about a life ban I take exception to the 'bit of smoke'. Read my posting about the three people affected by smoke at another Villa match etc. the young and the old can be affected by smoke. Plus the young boy killed by a flare abroad.

As the Deputy Chief Constable who is leading the Football Policing group states: "It is no way appropriate to let off either smoke flares or fireworks inside a stadium. Those that argue that it gives a European flavour to the occasion are plain wrong."

I know how I am affected by smoke of any description so you may say that I am being selfish but I am only one of many and I am not, and never have been, a party pooper I think both smoke bombs and flares are not appropriate at a match. JMHO

There are some soft people on here!

Away games have always been more boisterous than home games and when you bring your children then you should be fully aware off all the risks involved. I'm not saying it's right, but these types of things are inevitable. So to come on here and call some fans idiots, who are trying to improve the atmosphere in a way that you personally don't agree with is pointless. A guy I see at a lot of the games had his two lads there on Saturday and they absolutely loved the smoke bombs. I wouldn't ever take one into a ground because it isn't worth a 3 year ban, but I do like it when they go off!

And it's only a bit of smoke as well! How did we manage before the smoking ban? I bet people still took their children back then knowing what it would be like.

Some people will only be happy when every football fan is sat quietly, politely applauding each goal.

So you have no regard for your fellow Blues fans ? You`re probably a smoker as well who goes into the bogs at half time. ;)

We can still have a top atmosphere without smoke bombs for a guy to put it next to my daughters leg was out of order
