Smoke bombs yet again

I cant believe people are actually slating iloveacougar for bringing this up. His daughter should never be put in that position and anyone who thinks that it is ok to have a smoke bomb or a flare in a crowd of people is most definitely idiotic. If it is 'Just a little bit of smoke' then whats the point? The fact is, you know perfectly well that it isn't 'just a little bit of smoke'. It is a fuck-wad mass of smoke and can be extremely dangerous.

How would you honestly feel if one of your relatives was injured because of a smoke bomb/flare?

All a bit like throwing bangers to me. You get a little older and you kind of grow out of it.

But still, it's an away game, so I guess you are allowed to do what the fuck you want. Looking forward to pissing in someone's pockets on the concourse at Chelsea then in that case.

I don't think a single person on this thread has said 'you are allowed to do what the fuck you want'. All that's being said is it's inevitable, and a thread on Bluemoon isn't going to result in an entire, nationwide enlightenment around the issues of social order. Yes it was immature to let a smoke bomb off near a little girl. But the majority of football fans who travel to away games aren't going to change their personalities and behave out of character to accommodate the needs of other people. They just won't care about your opinion.

Again, not saying any of it is right, but it's not going to change on here so there is no point complaining about it.
Maybe to OP should contact someone at Upton Park and see what they can achieve by talking to someone who can actually help them rather than trying to get everyone to say how sorry they feel about the situation on here.

Exactly mate. That's why I can't wait for Chelsea. I'm like a camel saving my water. Might even bring a vuvuzela. It's an away game, gotta expect these things.

I'm an ultra me.

So what you're saying is that because the prats wont listen to our opinion, we shouldnt raise our concerns or have the opinion in the first place?

This is rediculous. Just reading this thread makes me furious.

well if fighting and being ignorant and obnoxious are part of someone's character then they are a twat!! and I know for certain that the majority of fans aren't twats so this doesn't make sense, its always a minority that go too far

No, by all means raise your concerns. Just raise them somewhere where it's going to make a difference.

I'm obviously not as bothered by them as other posters on here and there is nothing wrong with that. I wouldn't impose what I deem acceptable on other people, and I agree with you, it was out of order for that person to do that to the little girl who has as much right to be at the game as the idiot who threw it near her. But where are you gonna go from starting a thread on Bluemoon? Start asking for names of who it was then kick shit out of them at the next game? I just don't see the point.

I'm not trying to make you 'furious' by any means. But you are on a forum, people come on these things to give their own and read other peoples opinions, so if my opinion on smoke bombs and away football fans make you furious then don't read them!

Does it really matter if they are smoke bombs or flares, the point is that those who let the fans into the ground and check the bags are not doing their jobs properly and should be told that this has got to stop otherwise they will lose the contract for the security of the fans.

What happened to the Everton fans that let of their smoke bombs when they scored against us were any of them ever caught or punished. When they are caught they should get a 5yr ban from all stadiums in the UK.

And now you've contradicted yourself:

rather than trying to get everyone to say how sorry they feel about the situation on here.

If it's all about opinions, then those complaining have as much right to express it here as you have in yours?

For what it's worth, my opinion is that I cannot understand for the life of me why fans (of any club) feel the need for flares/smoke bombs etc and how it helps support your club? At most, if not all away games, the fans sing pretty much all through the game and cheer the lads on. In my opinion, the players hearing us sing lifts them and helps them put that extra couple of percent into the game. I imagine when they look at the away and see these things going off the probably think "for fuck's sake". Now whilst it wouldn't stop them putting in the effort, I feel sure it probably does nothing for them per se.

On another thread (think it might have been Levets, and Didsbury Dave has made a similar point previously too) the atmosphere is a spontaneous thing in relation to what is happening on the pitch It doesn't need to be "forced" by having a capo, a crappy singer warbling Blue Moon just before the teams come out, Hey Jude by the Beatles being piped through speakers to or smoke bombs or flares to get us going.

In the halcyon days on the Kippax, we didn't need any of that. It was loud, proud, whitty and pure banter. It seems a lot of folks today have completely lost the capability to have a laugh on the terraces and seem to believe Green Street is real.

Just my opinion.
