I get irritated by second-hand smoke but I will never complain about UK stadiums again after going to Monchengladbach last week. It was a smoking free for all. Pissed myself however when I saw a City fan hiding away in one corner having a sneaky smoke when 20 yards away in open view a steward was smoking openly. It's a different culture - like the uniformed policeman openly smoking on duty in Barcelona back in March.

So if people are so bothered, why does no one ever say anything to smokers at the stadium? I no longer smoke and haven't for a while but no one ever seemed to say anything. Or even appeared to be arsed.

I was brought up in a generation when everyone smoked, in our house you needed a knife to cut a hole in the smoke to watch the telly.

I'm a non smoker and always have been. The 60's and 70's nearly everyone smoked.

Smoking killed my mam and dad and nearly took my brother but..............:

I just don't get how somebody can't go a whole 90 minutes without having a cig. How do these people manage on planes or trains or watching a film in the cinema etc also places where you can't spark up. Just enjoy the game and have your cig after the match.

When people stop acting like selfish cunts there will be one less thing to moan about.
I happily avoid all the issues fans seem to whinge about the most on here. I don't use the toilets or any of the bars inside the ground, saving me from the smell of smoke and dodgy belly. I also never buy any food inside so no probs with the overcharging for terrible produce. At half time I don't pay attention to the 'Entertainment' instead choose to read the match day forum on here for my laughs. I have no interaction with any stewards, showsec or otherwise. My match day experience is a breeze, though I probably shouldn't advertise the fact they don't get any extra revenue from me. I'm sure there are ways they can track me down..

Like I said..I'm sorry about your dad..trust me..my dads death and the birth of my child made me give up 4 years ago for good

But I still won't impose my views of it on others..or condemn those who choose to smoke..or take drugs..or have a few pints..

I'm more likely to get run over by a car than die from passive smoke

1. drinking alcohol only affects the drinkers health
2. You'd be pissed off if there were no H&S laws to protect you from Asbestos exposure. YOu would be pissed off if someone threw asbestos fibres in your face every day - THATS WHY THERE ARE LAWS TO DEAL WITH IT
3. People are punished by the law for dangerous driving. If someone drove into your family you would expect the law to deal with them
4. Fat people only kill themselves

So, your points are not valid. Smoking in public places AFFECTS OTHERS
