Smoking

ffs it is the law in this country that we cannot smoke in a public place, simple as that, in pubs, in football/ cricket/ rugby grounds, in cafes ever where that is open to the public while in a space that is not open. even in cars now if u have a young un in the car.

I suggest if you can't go without a couple of hours without smoking, just stay away. You wouldn't dream of smoking on a plane? If you can go without for that why not at football.

PS I saw someone thrown out for smoking in the new South Stand bogs...but three guys openly applying for Bolivian passports via their nasal cavities were left in....[/QUOTE]

Maybe your referring to when; (me as the steward), was making the effort to clear the new toilets of smoking so that all fans could have a quick wee while breathing normally. You could be the bloke who had a go because of fans openly snorting coke which I didnt see. Anyway..one problem at a time. The guy wasnt kicked out. He was the first one i saw smoking so was reminded of his responsibility. To then (against West Ham), be turned on by approx 20 idiots for doing my job was pathetic. To be asked "Are you a Munich?" after an ex city goalkeeper died in that crash, (not to mention the suffering the families of utd players families went through) was pretty stupid? So im a Utd fan because I want to allow everyone to breathe normally? A bunch of 'big men round their mates'. Think of the poor young kids having to smell & breathe that poison.

Well done fella, I assume you mean the third tier bogs, I have to use those. If its not nipped in the bud it'll be like a pea-souper in there in no time.

It was the lowest tier south stand behind 114/115. These guys think they are a law unto themselves. One asked me for a light. One told me I shouldn't be hanging round mens toilets and did I want to see his winkie. I didn't have my magnifying glass but it got a bit out of hand when I asked him did he have a brain cell. Singing "we'll smoke where we want". It will get sorted though. The ones who persist will get caught eventually. It will take a bit of time. Its not what theyre doing specifically that winds me up...its the total disregard for others. Thoughtless selfish buffoons. They're stuck in the 70's. Thanks though man. A few came out in support after the handbags. Thanking me on a difficult job. The majority of the 'in crowd' wanted me sacked for grabbing a guy I thought was going to nut me. They'd probably be the type to trample over women and kids in a crush to save themselves. If there are more like you it can be stopped and these guys can be embarrassed into going elsewhere.

im not e-cig smoker, but banning them was stupid. They should have smoking areas around the stadium. Would solve everything.
It would solve the toilet issue. A nice little area for everyone who wants to suck on their cancer sticks. I think that's why they won't, can't be seen to be encouraging people to smoke can they? (Even though it's perfectly fine for people to indulge in alcohol consumption which is arguably a more harmful drug)

Yes but drinking is harmful to the consumer only. Never heard of anyone dying from passive drinking.

Well done PNP - encouraging to see some of the stewards doing the job they are paid for.

Not true is it?
Plenty of people's lives have been blighted by other people's excess drinking.
I'm a drinker and non-smoker BTW.
OK - I take your point but this thread is about smoking in the stadium even though the club have banned this. Drinking in the ground isn't banned. Start another thread on that if you believe it should be

You took the thread off course and I responded to your contentious statement. Let's leave it at that.

In my experience there is a scattergun approach to the club employees dealing with smoking in the stadium. They should be consistent in their approach to it .

Personally I think it's the scattergun they are missing.

What exactly is the punishment for smoking in the ground? I've always understood it's a three match ban. What happens if you get caught a second time?
