Smoking

What a lovely thing to say.
Fuckinell.
Smokers need it spelling out , i lost my brother and mum and dad to cancer , all smoked . There is zero reason for anyone to smoke now the dangers are clear . If you dont get lung cancer you get COPD and take up a lot of nhs resources whilst you struggle to breath, facts hurt when you want people to take respsnsibility for their own health. Still you got a like from dazdon so a good mins work by you ! And cellarite lol

It's spelt out all over the packets Kaz, everyone knows it's going to cause them harm, but they're addicted and it's not that easy. We've all got our vices. Whether it be smoking/vaping, drinking or eating unhealthily. Some people gamble. Nearly always it comes down to addiction and is a coping mechanism for life's stresses. Some people don't want to quit and take the view they'll die of something anyway, but that's their right.

The sad thing is that having finally reduced the number of smokers, we've got kids out there vaping in similar numbers to those that smoked back in the 60s and 70s. And no one knows the risks of it yet. I'm pretty sure there will be some, but these things are being targeted specifically at kids and it's a joke it's not been more regulated.

You can get away with it easier than smoking too because your clothes don't stink!

Honoured that you took the time to edit your post. Thanks.

Us nurses tell it straight whether it is liked or not , you can vape instead and be safer these days , i am also raw given my brother died a few months ago , he took the same view as mack but regretted it when he knew he would be not seeing his grand kids and great grand kids grow up , he was 65

The government didnt learn a thing from the marketing of alcopops to kids , it was so obvious that vaping would go the same way , there is a vaping shop in my high street right where the kids walk to school who offer discounts if you go in before 9am and display a menu of colours and flavours in the window

For now we know that vaping is not healthy but less dangerous to use than cigs , in the long term who knows what the real effects will be . I agree about addictions being hard to break , i am massively addicted to sugar , i go keto a few times a year to give my organs a rest from the sugar. i think there has never been an easier way to get off cigs with vaping as the alternative . The nhs is on its knees and we all have a respsonsibilty to ease the pressure . I think the same about binge drinkers who flood casualty friday and saturday nights

And you will probably die young and or clog up the nhs in the meantime
Well, we have had a few smokers in my Grans family and she, and all her 6 siblings, lived to over 80.

Do you think non smokers don't "clog up" the NHS?
As people age and live longer than the generation before them then that in itself leads to a greater burden on the NHS. Just because we are enabled to live longer doesnt mean people are running around like spring chickens.

I get what you are saying but it isn't as black and white as you portray.

And, for what it's worth, my Dad died 2017 aged 75. Lung cancer.
He was told it was terminal 6 weeks before he died. The first thing he said was "I can have a cig again" and smiled, as he had given up about 5 years before.

He hadn't needed medical attention for years before that

He then arranged a big get together of all his 6 children, other family members and friends, in his local Heywood pub.
It was wonderful. And he was very brave. Always had a joke and a ready smile throughout his life, and that never changed in those last few weeks
He loved every minute.
Died 6 weeks later in hospital, just 2 days after admittance.
Rather that than dying horrendously in some anonymous care home, desperately clinging on to "life" for years.
