Smoking

On my trips around Europe I’m amazed at how many young adults are still smoking tobacco.
Vaping doesn’t seem to have caught on like here.

Cigarettes appear very cheap abroad. €5 a pack or something. I imagine ours here are taxed to the hills.

When off to Spain or somewhere I’m often pestered for cheap cigarettes from duty free but always say no.

Couldn't that be a consequence of most European countries still having lax smoking laws? I visit Spain regularly and most smokers are in cafes/bars or the outdoor seating areas of these establishments.

As for vaping, I find it horrid. Strangely, I prefer the smell of tobacco to vapour.

Not Italy or France.
People do what they do here, go outside for a smoke.
Reading up it seems the western eu countries are strict like us and they get laxer the further east you go.

They were smoking inside in Berlin last time I was there. The barmaid (who was about the most friendly and helpful person ever) said as long as they don’t serve food then they’re allowed to.
