Sneaky increase in ticket prices

I'm sure I'm misreading your post but they already have an Adult, 18-21s, over 65s & under 18s level.

I mean proper discounted tickets for that age group. I appreciate there are already discounted tickets. Sort of?

Currently.

Resales.

1 ticket left in that block.

SSL1 - Block 116

18-21 - £40,00.
Under 18 - £30,00.

I’m all for cheaper tickets but here’s a few questions I’ve got to inform the business case to Danny, Roel and Soriano:

1. It’s Haaland whose captivating the younger audience and the teams success on the pitch. That needs to be paid for and our match day revenue lags behind other top teams.

2. Why select premium / semi corporate tickets to illustrate price hikes / comparisons. When did the working classes buy these tickets in the good old days. Only when there was nothing else available and on special occasions I guess. I recall as a teenager the only tickets available for a Boxing Day game was on the top tier of the Kippax. City charged £30 odd quid for these tickets a quarter of a century ago and the deal didn’t include a can of pop or sweet FA other than the seat. It was a nil nil bore draw btw.

3. I’ve managed to sort 3 tickets together online for the Everton game (this week) for a Dad and his 2 sons. The price was £90 odd quid in total. Too expensive but not terrible for the Everton game / nearest home match after Christmas.

4. Are these plastics / tourists mainly filling the 10k or so of seats that didn’t get sold out for Cup games. (I know the Vianogo tickets etc are a con). These plastics / tourists also break the tradition of leaving the game 10 minutes early, apparently.

5. Ticket sales across Prem matches and Cup games are as good as they’ve ever been.

6. Dynamic pricing has been introduced so there are cheaper tickets (bought early) in the family stand.Tickets are more expensive for last minute purchases.

7. This forum called for casual workers etc to be paid in full for what would have been match day work but for the pandemic. We listened to you and paid them in full. This money had to be found and paid.

8. You said the atmosphere would be much better when safe standing was introduced. Why are you now saying it’s all about the price of tickets.

Like I said I’m all for cheaper tickets and younger fans going. I’m just pointing out what might be the response from Club officials who don’t support City. They aren’t the Club. We are btw.
You're an intelligent guy Timothy I think you could argue all of those points.
If I went to a bar and it was a fiver a pint and a couple of months later it was £7.50 for the same pint I wouldn't be going in there again. Unfortunately the club has it's fans by the short and curlies. Most city fans will just stop going to watch live football altogether if they can't afford to go to the Etihad.
Once upon a time lots of people went to support us almost out of duty... now it's an expensive treat.

I'm about at my limit for season ticket price.
Only renewed this year cos of haaland.
It's just getting to much.
Trouble is if I don't renew so tourist will now fill my seat.
Probably a different one every week.
This is probably what the club want get them in the shop buying over priced shirts and a programme.
I'll drive tomorrow.
Never been in the shop
get a programme delivered for free as my mate works at buxton press who print them.
And I don't spend anything in the ground cos it's a rip off.
Times have changed is there any room for proper fans any more

It’s a business mate and the club will research around the other clubs for pricing structures, ticket pricing etc against our wage bill, turnover, cash flow etc? I have 3 companies and one could sell its products cheaper than it does and still make a profit but when it’s cheaper than other companies then why should it? City also now have a commitment to its other shareholders to give them a return on their investment into the club? There is also FFP to consider as well as us fans eating the Haaland type signings, Bellingham etc? Of course if you don’t renew someone will take your seat but that’s just how it works? If I died tomorrow my companies would carry on and someone else would reap my dividends etc until no doubt my wife sold! Lol. It’s not me having a dog at you or anyone else by the way, just me with the business head on as you state yourself you have never spent money in the club shop, buy nothing at the ground and even blag a free programme? Not something that any business owner wants to hear really is it? It’s basic common sense that if they read that and they have someone who will go to the shop and buy some merchandise, buy a programme or two , grab a beer or soft drinks, eat there etc then that’s who the club wants? The club is now more appealing than ever and to grow further it needs more huge investment and although the owner is richer than we could ever imagine, every investment will be viewed as a long term one but to bring a huge return in the end? We have the best in the world imo but why should they be expected to give things away? Like I said mate, please don’t think I’m being disrespectful to you or anyone on here and maybe the expansion will come with extra benefits but I doubt it and the club is a business and needs to be profitable to be sustainable and the days of being in a run down Maine road are gone and we are the envy of every other club in the UK with not only on the pitch but off the pitch infrastructure.

If City don't make season tickets availae what use are they to those who don't have one. We clearly had the capacity and could have made them available but chose to sell a silver ticket and charge a fortune for the 'big 6' games.

The expansion is 3 years off, are we going to sell no new season tickets for 4 years.

There will be a certain % of season ticket holders who don’t renew every season for various reasons. I’d imagine they will go on sale at the end of the renewal period next season.

This season was unique in that they were obligated to accommodate all those that deferred and retain all those from last season that had effectively already replaced them.

Need a bit of context here I think. At most other leading clubs, someone who suddenly decides they want a season ticket can expect to be at the bottom of a queue they can barely see the top of. City have just had the most in demand season in their history for season tickets. I don’t think it’s unreasonable in this case that they couldn’t accommodate everybody.

But they were able to release silver tickets? And sell the same seat for top 6 games separately. Any reason why the club couldnt sell that as a full season ticket?

I’m not an apologist for every decision the club make mate. My guess is they would have preferred offering no new season tickets at all this season. But with all the new interest generated through Haaland, maybe thought they could appease a few newcomers with this silver ticket, without it eating into their limited number of one off high price sales for the big games.

I'd agree thats exactly what they did.

If I remember correctly the Silver was initially only supposed to be offered to current season ticket holders? I think they took on too many new season ticket holders when the option was there to defer for those who wished and were surprised at the number who had deferred and now wanted to continue with their season ticket. The cityzen membership was supposed to get you on the seasoncard 'waiting list' so the club had to look to be offering something as it would have mis-sold thousands of memberships otherwise. I don't think they wanted to sell any new season tickets this time around but they were almost made to. They removed the 'seasoncard waiting list' benefit from the membership package around this time so I don't know how you get on the waiting list now either?

Good luck to you owning 3 companies.

The average fan can't afford if prices keep going up.
This is what makes me hate football more and more

I agree mate but it’s as much to do with the players salaries etc than the club being greedy in the market place imo. Everyone wants say Bernardo Silva to stay and if he extends he might want £25,000 a week more to extend? So the club needs to instantly find £100,000 a month more on one player? Let alone Haaland coming in, Pep a new contract no doubt on more money etc? Mansour under the regulations just can’t put money in as it stands and they want the club to be sustainable and profitable which it is but it’s not like it makes £100m profit I could understand but with the north stand extension, new city square, hotels and retail park etc then it will be imo another £200m investment into the facilities? Like I say mate, I’m not digging at anyone but the likes of Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne etc know what they can get and if we want to joys of watching these majestic players then it has to be paid for?
