Real spring is a different notion. Glasgow’s winter has lasted 40 years so far.
21st March was the old Lady day, one of the quarter days which were part of the legal calendar.We were always told spring began on 21 March, which was also a relations birthday. Not disputing what you say, more just agreeing with AHT so it's come from somewhere lol
Typical lawyers made their own nonsensical seasons.

I'd personally go with the latter (march 1st). February seems too early in the year to be called spring. Anyway, the car park at work this morning.....

It’s clear in High Crompton, but Grains Bar and eastwards are getting progressively more and more settling.It's bloody cold here in Oldham :-( Had some flurries of snow but it hasn't stuck yet (at least not in the town centre). Bet it has higher up though.

March 20th is the first day of spring over here.
The east coast got hit with up to 150cm of snow the other day.

coldest ground in the country, or it felt like it. And i lived in Buxton for a while when it was totally isolated by ten foot drifts....It's bloody cold here in Oldham :-( Had some flurries of snow but it hasn't stuck yet (at least not in the town centre). Bet it has higher up though.
