Snow

Had one lad say he can't come to work because the roads are dangerous. Suffice to say the site manager told him to get a grip and get his arse in gear.

This country can be truly pathetic.

Joking apart, the cabin crew were briefed about the possibility of being diverted elsewhere when they were in Cancun, the two flights following them were sent to Ireland. Manchester airport is rated poor for a reason.
That's my point. Manchester airport had enough warning to ensure planes could land. They did squat.
No thought for the passengers dumped in Ireland.

I remember flying into Helsinki in a snow storm, we landed without an issue and when taxiing off the runway there was a snow plough behind us clearing the runway for the next plane. They also had loads of de-icer machines alongside the taxiway and at the end of the runway when planes would have to wait before takeoff.

On the bus into the city centre I got talking to a guy who worked for the department of transport in the UK who was over there for a conference, and even he agreed that other countries had a better infrastructure for dealing with bad weather but the UK government couldn't justify the cost of the equipment for rare events. In Scandinavian countries it is guaranteed they need the equipment so the cost is justified.

couple of inches here overnight in Oldham but expecting rain later - I hope Stockport et al avoid more flooding when it all melts

I swear some on here would watch their own Nan slip on ice and bleed to death telling them to get up and stop being so dramatic.
