so is kun aguero on the same level as messi ?

Hi guys, i am a Barcelona and Argentina fan and has been reading this forums for some time when Zabaleta signed, then read even more when Tevez signed and have read a lot after Aguero's performance.

For us Argentina fans and La Liga viewers, there is no doubt that you have got yourself a gem of a player. La Liga in general has been poorer due to Aguero's departure and i think Atletico will struggle even more without him but we are praying that the emergence of Malaga with Pellegrini and Beilsa's Athletico will give something to worry for Mourinho.lol

Ok back to this topic. The thread title might look giddy for some of you who haven't watched many games of Aguero but this thread is not as bad as some of you think.

When at the age of 17 Aguero was playing for Indipendiente and was the youngest player ever to play in Argentine A league, there was plenty of comparisions between Aguero and Messi. Then Aguero signed for Atletico Madrid, a team who is struggling to get good manager and have very little creativity in midfield and bad defence. Actually, Aguero and Forlan have been the main reason for them finishing top 10 these last seasons.

Like this thread, there used to be comparisions between Aguero and Messi before every Barcelona-Atletico game, with questions who will win the duel(same nowadays with Messi-Ronaldo). There is no doubt that to beat Messi is a very difficult job, but Aguero has done it, TWICE. Not even Ronaldo has managed that playing in a better team with better manager and better support.

This kid is really good and i somewhat felt his progress was stagnated in Atletico and he did a great job leaving that club. Now, i think he will truly fulfill his potential because of the fact that you have a defence which leaks very little goal, which will make him easier to win games for you.

To answer the question of the OP, i don't think Aguero is as good as Messi atm, but he has the potential. For me Messi is the best player in the world and level below we have players like Ronaldo, Xavi, Iniesta. And i believe Aguero is in that league with those 3.

no

Aguero = modern great/Top 5 today
Messi = All time great/Top 5 all time

5th best player in the world for me.

Messi
Xavi
Ronaldo
Iniesta
Aguero

Never thought i'd be able to say that about a City player.

I like that list a lot but I'd put Ronaldo just above Xavi because he is so valuable for his team. But yes, imo, Xavi is the 3rd best in the world and very underrated.

I'd also put Rooney about 6th on that list.<br /><br />-- Tue Aug 16, 2011 2:09 pm --<br /><br /><a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZnUr8lcqjo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZnUr8lcqjo</a>

Watch this vid and remember he did all this before he turned 21

top post . fully agree

We should maybe give Aguero time to get fit and adapt to his new team mates and the Premiership, but for me the excitement is very much justified. Every time he touched the ball, it looked like something was going to happen.

Messi is the current King, but they don't reign forever

He's definitely in the top ten in the world undoubtedly...that's not a knee jerk response either, I'd put him at the same level as David Villa and he's got time on his side so who knows how good he'll end up

Not watched much on Aguero, but I would think at the moment Messi has Superglue on the end of his boot, Aguero has (at the moment) bluetack, he will get to the superglue stage while at MCFC. I can't wait to see this happen.

Think Aguero will go on to become one of the best players in the world with us but he will never be as good as Messi.

He could become the best, he has been described as "the messi of strikers" but... he's a striker so he's different.

AGUERO IS AGUERO
