So long Gareth Barry.

We beat sunderland 5-0. We perform great, defence through attack, we were a TEAM today. Mario kept his cool, yaya scored, carlos tucked away a pen, a youngster got a good run out and a thread gets started in a negative way against an unused sub!!!!!

Leighton, i'm surprised at you!
It's fuking pathetic to say the least :(

Regarding the semi final we will play 3 in the midfield it will be a case of Mancini going back to the normal sit back and hope to get a 1-0 win. I have no problem with it at all.

To the people who are saying its a shit tread or pathetic why dont you defend Barry tell us what he offers to the team now. He has been poor sub standard since he has been at the club. If it was any other player then there would be nothing to it no moaning. Have a different view on some of our English internationals seems like it is a big no on here.

Bye Bye Gareth..hopefully your days as a City regular starter are over!!!!!

Squad player at best. The pace of the game was a bit faster now without Barry. And im happy that we played more attacking.
totally agree

He's far from poor.
His best position is unfortunately the one DJ plays, however, due to our lack of options while AJ has been out,we have had to utilise players out of position and do their best.I believe several players have suffered because of this lack of squad depth and balance.
It's very obvious that we perform much better when the 'defensive' lads aren't on the field at the same time - i'm hoping they won't have to be from now on in.
When DJ is unavailable,Barry would be my substitute preference.

...oh definitely considering we played a team that hadn't won in the last 2 months, offered as much attacking threat as starving African baby with a sledge hammer...get rid based on one alright performance. 'KNEE...'well you know the rest.

well said, blue moon is a fickle mob.

if you were just talking about the team as a whole in the first post i would of agreed totally with you but you had to have the title of so long Gareth barry thus it is your usual dig at a player you don't like.

its a shame that some seem to do this far to often to players that have actually been playing well for us over the last few seasons!

if i remember rightly he had player of the month only a few month ago on here!

The game was a bit faster without Barry?

It would have been even faster if Barry had played instead of De Jong - not that I am advocating that. The pace of a game is not dependent solely on the pace of a player, but on the accuracy and speed that the ball is moved between players. Barry is a quarterback - unfortunately for him we have De Jong who plays in a similar position.

We need more midfielders. Not less. Take a look at Arsenal's depth in midfield.

When it came to the crunch about a fortnight ago we didn't have the squad depth to compete in the League, FA Cup and Europa League. If we qualify for the Champions League next season, what will it be like?

lets be honest sunderland are in dire form. If barry would have played instead of dj and we had won 5 - 0 would we now be saying dj your shit your time here is up. No so why say it just cause barry aint in team

Anyone think the improved pace and movement could be a result of not playing 3 games a week??? i for one am hoping so because we could be in for one hell of a run in if we can keep this up!!!
