So Proud

Hess just over the moon that he gets to play football another night of the week bless him.

But he's a sweet well mannered lad and I'm sure his folks will ensure he keeps working hard at school.

Quality stuff, they sure bag them young nowadays.

I have been taking my mates lad over to Everton and the academy there is impressive, they work the kids hard, but teach them loads and it is very professional. My cousins lad who is 6 is at Burnley too, he is a blue and football daft.

Hope he does well mate ;)

My 5 year old is playing for a local club here in Hull. It's a little frustrating though. The older lad plays for the same club in a league and it seems decent at that level. The younger lad though, is head and shoulders above the kids in his group. Instead of playing matches in training, they play games all day every week. They don't play friendly matches or in a league either. I want to get him going properly and feel this club is not helping him at the moment but don't really know what I should expect from a team at this age group.

Little update (not that any probably care) but he went down for two weeks and still shone and yesterday Blackburn officially signed him up to their academy.

I put it all down to doing De Jong style tackles on him for a few years to toughten the little fucker up.

SWP, could you have a read of my post above mate and advise?
My nephew didn't start playing games until about 12 months ago mate (he is 8 in OCtober) and before that it was a case of fun skills and getting their technique up.

Lads at age 5 can't really do games very given the "bees arounf the honeypot" nature of football at that age. I wouldn't be worrying just yet Kev, so long as he is enjoying himself and getting plenty of touches of ball on foot.

No problem mate. Last week, they were having a 3-a-side tournament in training. He'd just scored the winner (first to score won and stayed on) in one game and the last game of the session was about to start. They have a kick-off where the ball is placed on the centre spot and they all have to stand against the wall until the whistle is blown, then there's a race to reach it first. The whistle goes, he sprints like fuck, gets there first and shoots with the first touch of the game. It loops over the 3 opponents and flies into the net. The other parents were clapping and laughing. He got the trainer of the week award (again) and I felt 10 foot tall.
