In the Transfer Forum especially, everyone should read their post before they send it.
Then read it again.
Then count to 10.
Then ask themselves 'Do I really want to say that?'.
Only if the answer is yes, should you press submit.
This applies to the Tolmie believers, the Tolmie sceptics — and Tolmie himself, along with the mods.
I always enjoy the summer madness in here, and don't doubt Tolmie's got contacts. But I agree with others that there should be no 'sacred cows' or special treatment.
Likewise, there is no need for abuse and the CoC already covers that. But I didn't see any real personal abuse yesterday. If there was. bans would have been handed out. They haven't.
There was some heated questioning of an unequivocal statement, albeit some own it was sailing close to the edge — especially from one poster in particular, whose debut on the board was attempted ticket touting and who since then insisted Skrtel was a done deal weeks ago.
But i Tolmie drops a genuine bollock, he should have shoulders broad enough to accept a bit of flak without the annual wobbling of the bottom lip and a dramatic flounce off the board.
And lets face facts here, Tolmie dropped a bollock yesterday, posting 'there will be an arrival today' — coincidentally, a bit after Alan Nixon of the Mirror tweeted something similar and then put a story on the Mirror website. And then going on to say the fee quoted for Sinclair was wrong, would be more like £5m.
You can see why some people were asking questions when it didn't happen — especially as this was a very unequivocal statement for Tolmie, given his usual propensity for intrigue.
Let's face it. We are all a bit frustrated with how this summer has gone. I'm sure Roberto feels worse than we do.
But let's count to 10 before losing our rag among ourselves, insulting others — or stamping our feet and slamming the door as we storm out.
