Soccer Aid charity game at The Etihad

Went to a similar event - England playing lceland back in the days when England could and did beat teams like that.
The pub was full of strange looking men with hats and scarves with England/Stoke City, Northampton etc on them. Tacky souvenirs going like hot cakes by the B of the Bang and in the ground it was all high pitched squeals from boys and their mums every time Beckham went near him.
Complete waste of time and money and no doubt this match where Rooney!!! Is the big attraction will be even worse. No thanks.
Went to that game, they had Isakson in goal which is about as much as I can remember.

Don't really see an issue with this game as it is a charity event for a good cause.
Football games can be a good way to raise money for decent charities. The Grenfell fundraiser at QPR or Vinnies testimonial for the Manchester homeless charity being good examples.
These games aren't really proper football matches in truth (Kompany's one maybe had a bit more of a 'proper feel' as it was all ex City players on one side).
I buy the Big Issue and donate to the Air Ambulance but would I go to a match like this?no , almost certainly not. You do get some semi decent moments!!! to be fair.
On breakfast TV I saw footage of someone from Love Island scoring a cracking goal!! Also a few years back that dude Sergio from Kasabian scored a goal just like the real Sergio! (Leicester fan though isn't he!).
On the other hand you get people like Boris the Buffoon appearing! Shame he couldn't have stuck to making a tit of himself on the pitch rather than in Downing Street though!!!

like some i once got blagged in to going to a game but didnt have to pay, maradona played it was that long ago. Even then the stadium was a shithole with VIP lounge worthy of a "little chef" restaurant.
I dont like the games, but not to knock something that kids love and it raises money for charity.

Often wondered when they will stop playing at the swamp as it must be embarrassing for the organisers to see the look of disappointment on fans faces when they think they are arriving at the best stadium in the country only to find its just a bigger version of stoke city stadium.
The organisers must have seen the facilities at the etihad and thought why have we not moved over here earlier.
Hats off to little old city for having one of the best stadiums in the country, soon more major finals will move over.

I think you mean: "only to find its just a bigger version of stoke city's old stadium."
