Some pubs charge for soda water.. some don't

I know most people don't go into a pub not to get drunk but some people just like the atmosphere and not getting drink.

So does your local charge for soda water? and how cheap if you just go into a pub for soda water LOL

They'd give it to you free in my local but the barman would expect some kind of tip before you left.........so, not free

We don't charge for it in the one i run, it's usually being added to something anyway, Vodka normally, so don't bother charging.
Am I wrong in thinking public houses have to provide tap water for free?
Like some kind of licensing law?

What if someone was severely dehydrated, about to collapse, but had no money?
Would a licensee let the person dehydrate and potentially die on their premises?

I recently packed in the booze and soda water is about the only soft drink I can stand. I wouldn't be a **** and order it on its own, however.
