Dylan changed music more then any other artist I can think of. He took the folk music and brought it to the masses, then electric. He's not my favourite artist of all time but I think that he is the most influential, Cash had a golden period and Rick Rubin gave him another but for impact on society and music Dylan stands above all others in my opinion.

People may prefer Cash (as each of us has our own unique taste) but can't deny Dylan. Cash didn't write all his own material but dylan crafted all his own songs and this sways it for me. I do love some J Cash but....

Very even match, tough draw. I don't particularly like either artist past about four or five songs. I think the media overrates Dylan (as they do with most things from the 1960's).

I'll go for Johnny Cash.

Both brilliant

But alot of Johnny Cash's songs are very good covers

Dylan is still writing brilliant music today and still sounds great (not live)
