Love em both & would happily back either against others. Bowie can be argued for bigger cultural impact, his transformations in style, his range, his voice, his charisma as a frontman, his videos.

It's like Neil Young is a close and dear mate but Bowie is an ex girlfriend and true love, we shared a lot together, that special bond can never be broken. The Thin White Duke made sure his white stained.
