Solo Travelling

Dropped my daughter off this morning at Heathrow Airport for a flight to Sydney.

She is off on an adventure along the coast of Australia. She has planned certain things and been offered a job as a lifeguard.

She’ll have the time of her life. Oz is a really friendly, warm and hospitable country I found. Good luck and safe travels to your daughter. :-)

Edit: When I went to Sydney i was walking down the street and bumped into a guy I knew from Rochdale who I hadn’t seen in years!! It really is a small world.

By my own admission I’m not the most outgoing person but never felt alone in Stockholm, Amsterdam or Warsaw this year. Each time someone started talking to me in a bar and I had some good nights.

It’s not fallen kindly but I’d have thought nothing of two nights solo somewhere before meeting the chaps in Armenia next month.

@Eccles Blue I suppose he couldn't enforce an English restraint order on you over there, but fair do's, tracking him down

I did a solo tour of the South Coast in 1969 on my Honda 90 (Sports) taking in Bude, Lands End, Beer, Weymouth, Poole/Bournemouth and Brighton.

Cost me a fortune in petrol at 6s/4d a gallon.

Mates are overrated. Been to Canada, Argentina and all over Europe alone. The best holidays I've had have been when I was alone. You're not having to agree to timings and please anyone else, just come and go as you please.

You meet some good people doing the hostel thing, and can also drop them as you please. More people = more problems.
