something is wrong

Until AJ returns we should go for Dzeko up front with a 3 man attacking mid of Tevez, Silva and Balo , with Yaya and Nige behind them and just go for the throat

Agreed. Time to grab that Top 4 spot with both hands, because we're in for an almighty fight for it with Spurs and Chelsea.

All that's missing at the moment will soon be solved when the injurys subside.

When De Jong doesnt play, we arent good enough.... simple.

Yaya is our most direct attacking threat, when De Jong isnt sat in the hole, Yaya doesnt have the freedom to roam, and the freedom to break forward uninhibeted.

We are also missing Balotelli and Johnson to add a further 'direct' aspect to our game, especially from out wide.

Our back-up midfield players (Viera / Milner out of position / SWP / Jo out of position / kolarov out of position) are not good enough for the current top 4). We are not the only team with this problem... just look at Chelsea!

To compound this, Barry has been poor (pedestrain in his play and often wasteful), Silva misses the support from Yaya and AJ supportin from midfield, so all to often has to slow things down... not to mention the fact that Dzeko has struggled to settle (and i think needs a preseason before he will).

This season (as we expected at the start of the season!) is too soon, it's just that so many people got their hopes up as the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool floundered!

Add a fit Balotelli, AJ, MJ, De Jong to this team.. then add Vlad with a years excperience on loan, and possibly even Caciedo returning to give us a different option... then add the signing of one more creative / wide player (which will happen in the summer)... then add exciting midfield youngsters like Roman / Ibrahim / Assulin / Razak all knocking on the door... and suddenly things look a hell of a lot brighter!

Keep the faith blues!
I will never lose the faith mate, do think we need a CB so for me it's get Boateng playing there now with Kolo and Lescott as cover. Barry hasn't been great but then neither has Milner, possibly due to him not playing his natural game. NDJ is a must as, as you say he allows others freedom. AK I think will come good, I think the PL has been a shock for him.
I feel top 4 is on the cards, Chelski too inconsistant and spuds will have CL catch up on them. It's OK while they're winning but should they go out, which I think they will then one or two cracks may appear. You know players suddenly start to feel tired etc. We could do with a couple of good results and the next few games should give us that opportunity.
All is well in my blue garden.

But who will track the opposition full-backs?

We need the Malcolm Allison type attitude: Fear no-one. your the best, go out there and do the job.

Ahhhhh, them were the days.

I know how you feel Bill, but Wolves and Everton always seem to raise their games against the top 4 teams. I think we're still a top class side and Bob is still working out his best side and formation. Im sure it'll come but what worries me were running out of games and we cant afford any slip ups while the learning curve is going on. Aris defended like Villa did and we couldnt find that opening goal. All is not lost the game is still in our favour because we have a decent pitch in which to play our passing game.

Tevez in midfield does not work.
