Something Special about Stockport?

Stockport comes under Merseyside.
When a mate many years ago, wished to marry a woman who had been divorced in a Catholic church, they were told that they would have to seek permission from the head honcho in Liverpool. Apparently the church uses boundaries from waaaaay back, and to them it is part of Merseyside.

Dippers!! :-)
My eldest son went to St Augustine's RC Grammar School in Wythenshawe (gone now) and although the school came under Manchester Education Authority and the Primary school in Burnage was in Salford Diocese, St Augustine's was in the Shrewsbury Diocese!!

There is a path right onto to A6. I use it literally every day.

I agree the river needs a clean up, but on the other side, eventually all our trash ends up in Liverpool so it has its benefits.
The left path by the lift has no gentle way to join the A6. I'll try the upper side, on the right next. Ta.

Like the shameful Manchester city centre rivers and the seas, I'd prefer no rubbish, even if it passes Scouseland.

A remarkable fact about Stockport is that it contains some really wealthy areas (e.g. Bramhall) but also some absolute shitholes that nothing in Manchester or Salford could beat for squalor and crime.
Can't this example of local wealth disparity be applied to many places in the country though?

Nowt wrong with Stockport. Still miles prefer to do my socialising in MCR but there are one in two decent pubs in the town centre. My favourite of which would be the Magnet which is just up the hill from what's probably the worst (although now shut down) The George.

Not a huge fan of the market area. It nice enough to look at but a tad overrated from a night out perspective in my opinion but Bakers Vault abf The Boars Head are decent enough. The produce hall is a bit wank in my opinion.

Some really nice areas to live too. Cheadle Hulme, Poynton, Bramhall, Marple, Romiley that all have enough decent restaurants and bars that are probably better than what the town centre has to offer.

Much rather live in Stockport than other towns on the outskirts of Manchester.

This.

I grew up in Didsbury and spent some of my 20s living back there. I much prefer living where I am now and going out for food and drink in Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme. The pubs are a lot nicer and quiter. I love the Mountain Stone, Crown and Con, Nook and broom is hit and miss. Bramhall Park is lovely to walk round too.

All those coats, what happened to summer ?

Incidentally, there was a post on Facebook about an extension of the metro to Stockport from Manchester, I read about 50 replies, every one of them moaning about it :)
Well at the moment they’ve only got a train service every 15 mins and a bus every 6-10 mins.
