Songs From Your Youth

When I was a kid we had new neighbours move in next door. At the time I was listening to Slade, Sweet, the Osmonds and all the rest of that crap.
The new neighbour caught wind of this and was having none of it. He gave me Humble pie - Rocking the Fillmore and Deep Purple - Made in Japan.
I bought Alice Copper - Schools out and Wings - Band on the run.
Then came punk.

Being in the 'older' camp on here I remember aged about 15 going down to Manchester on Saturday night and somehow getting into a nightclub that had live bands called the Magic Village, a sort of Hippy type place that went all night but didnt have a liqueur license .
I remember seeing Tyrannosaurus Rex there, which was an acoustic duo (before Mark formed T Rex) they had a sort of hit at the time with a song called Deborah.
I also saw a group called The Nice (with Keith Emerson) they had a big hit with a track called America.
Bob Dylan also had a hit at that time with Like A Rolling Stone. And the original Fleetwood Mac had several hits like Oh Well and Man Of The World
I also remember very well going to a mates house and playing Pink Floyds first album Piper At The Gates Of Dawn till we were sick of hearing it :)
Strawberry Fields Forever was also a favourite at this time. As was the John Mayall album 'Bare Wires'

Then along came Cream and Hendrix !!

Arnold Layne (Pink Floyd), Femme Fatale (Velvet Underground and Nico), Alone Again Or (Love), three greats from the later 60s.

First heard this on a builder's radio when i was at school.

It sounded like something from another planet at the time.

Now it sounds so fresh it could have been recorded yesterday.
