Strangely enough, last night I woke up and the ghost of Gloria Gaynor was standing at the foot of my bed.
First I was afraid; I was petrified...:)
I'll get me coat.

One of my Favourite Floyd tracks. When I hear it always reminds me of my secondary school which I hated. One of Pink Floyd's most popular songs, to judge by the frequency with which it's played on the radio. Another Brick in the Wall.

It's heading towards that time of year, so I'll go for the Pogues and Kirsty MacColl. After the first couple of airings, you can get sick of it very quickly. Same with BandAid, noble cause notwithstanding.
Dirty old Town isn't bad, I suppose. But I never rated him. He is immensely popular, though. And you live in Ireland?? Hasn't Shane MacGowan been officially canonised in that country?
Trust me, most of the teachers in my school were horrible bullying cunts, and several were nonces. I got the cane or slipper most weeks till corporal punishment was abolished. One teacher in particular said I was a failure that wouldn't to amount to anything and I'd be lucky to get a job. I wagged most of the last 18 months because my teachers were cruel bullies who were supposed to be there to mentor me, not fuckin' tormentor me! I Ieft in 1980 and soon found a job as an apprentice painter and decorator. And I've never looked back or been back to West Hill High in Stalybridge.I've been a teacher all my life. Still am, actually. Proud of it. We are not Nazis, whatever Roger Waters may have you believe (there may have been one or two in your school, I can't say). As much as the words, though, it's the dirge-like three-note melody that I truly detest.
By the way, I love “The Headmaster Ritual” and walk around the house singing it at the top of my voice when I put in on at full blast. And I owned Meddle and listened to it till the grooves were worn out. And saw them do virtually the whole of Dark Side of the Moon at both the Wembley Empire and the Rainbow. The problem is not there.

It's a classic, from an outstanding album. I love the opening "riff" (if you can class it as such).I've been a teacher all my life. Still am, actually. Proud of it. Haha. Oh, and the Film Scum reminds me of my school too.And here you are spending your days on Bluemoon! You'll never amount to anything, my boy, you'll never amount to anything. (Me neither).

I was quite brainy at school, and with the right encouragement I reckon I'd have got the relevant qualifications to go to uni, but my education was blighted by belligerent fools, as Morrisey once sang.To give you an idea of my education: the film If. Believe me, if you go through a boarding school education, it can just as bad, if not worse. Some of those teachers were not quite right in the head.
