So, two top managers in a row have seen and done the same things.
Defence is utter rubbish so divert midfield effort to protect it and hit on the counter.
Ole has done pretty much the same but improved a little at the back.
Next manager to come in would simply need a star CM to replace the lazy showpony and a solid DM in order to give them a reasonably solid TEAM.
This team wouldn't challege for the league, but considering the state of their competition, would give them a chance of 4th/perhaps outside chance of a cup.
Problems would be depth and the elite level quality that it required throughout for a full season of challenging for anything.
If they brought Poch in, I have a feeling their current squad makeup would be completely wrong for him, so it would take him 2-3 seasons transition to get where he wanted to be.
In the meantime he would possibly have to revert to the same safety first/counter approach that everyone else has done to avoid too many embarassing whackings as he figures out how they currently tick.
Whether or not the club can afford him (or anyone) that time for transition or not is the crux I feel.
Which I think makes Ole the sensible choice to tank the painful seasons - as long as they aren't too painful.
Problem is, with Ole, they aren't making progress towards a progressive 'football playing' transition - just trying to copy the intense Liverpool approach but without the star forwards or the learned experience of how to really make it work.
