Well great news, but I'm a bit surprised (not the news itself but the mention of Ed Woodward). How come a guy who is stepping down imminently is making a decision like this: tieing down a manager for three years (potentially) after he himself has departed. Seems very strange to me and if I were a Utd. fan I'd be asking questions....

It reminds me of a story my dad once told me about a guy who worked for a company that made Blackpool Rock. (I won't name the company). He was dismissed and felt unfairly treated, so during the couple of weeks notice period every batch of rock he made had the words "fuck you (insert name of company)" down the middle.

Is this the footballing equivalent of that?

I don’t like to say it but I believe this is another campaign that is doomed to failure. Two rags this morning were utterly scathing of the RentBoy saying he’s clueless and should resign immediately. I tried to reassure them that they were wrong and that all he needs is more money -lots and lots more- but they twigged me and accused me of taking the piss…
