Soriano: Briefing The Press, £150mill on 3 players?

Pogba, Dybala and Gundogan.

what is juve a feeder club? why don't city take sandro, marchisio, and bonucci while they're at it!

We arent over powered, we are out worked by other teams, one thing the Spanish Alan Ball's teams are not is lazy, technical yes but it is always based on hard work and organisation, the two things this team lacks the most IMO.

Spanish Alan Ball IN

some cogent tactics will help. man city currently invites people through their midfield and behind their stupid high line.

Pogba
Gundogan
Bernat

If it genuinely is only 3 players

interesting. http://bit.ly/22waSIA Squawka says Bernat is only marginally more effective than Clichy in attack and defense, but much more worth it in terms of possession football. of course, those numbers are tactics deaf.

There's also the question of Bayern and Guardiola poaching, something at least contentious in German media, though perhaps only as long as the season goes on.

http://bit.ly/1LHbO5v Gundogan would be a sizable upgrade over Fernandinho and http://bit.ly/1XNhATT Pogba would take Toure's place well, though he's not the mirror image of younger Toure some people assume he is.

we need to buy at least 2 central midfielders( fernando and yaya will leave)

i don't see why fernandinho must go. unless gundogan is brought in, fernandinho is a fine option. and if guardiola opts to bring in a young defensive midfielder instead of blowing the bank, fernandinho would be servicable to give that piece some time to fit. yaya, on the other hand, has decided he is finished with defending. he seems ready for the serie a

We desperately need a goal scorer, Sergio`s get injured we`re left with Wilfred Pony

iheanacho has what it takes. i think he is one of the most exciting players for next season. faupala may be usable, though first team elsewhere might do him some good. an interesting option for the backup spot would be deportivo's lucas perez.

Pogba, Koke & Alaba

more than 150m

Step forward Mr Angelino? (Hopefully...)

how come ricardo rodriguez never comes up in these discussions? rules against repeat business? angelino could get chances. he was creative in mls, but otherwise a little bit lacking.

Don't won't Laporte as his defending can be erratic and we already have ottamendi who dives in way to much. ... For midfield I'd go for pogba and gundogan and also Gareth bale ,with two young players bazoer and diawarra for back up.i think left back is more important to strengthen than centre back so we want to upgrade i want Alaba but that's unlikely I like the West Ham left back Aaron cresswell who is English can defend and get forward. .also I think we need a cover striker and get rid of bonny.

laporte is young and talented. you are right, he is erratic, but playing within pep's framework can make something more solid out of his skills. bale is not happening in all likelihood. i think thomas lemar is a very intriguing prospect too, though he would be a little redundant with de bruyne. bazoer is exciting, i would add weigl to the conversation -- hard to get, but he'd be great. cresswell is solid but not what pep will be looking for i think

So if you were given the option of just 3 senior players, who do you get?
paul pogba, virgil van dijk who's surprisingly not in these conversations, and one of the two premier bundesliga lbs

we need more than 3 players we need two new fullbacks for starters
pep may WANT new fullbacks, but the current ones aren't man city's glaring deficiency or something.

LB, RB, CB (ball playing) and 2-3 CMs coming in id like to see this summer, possibly RW as well, though that will probably depend on what Pep thinks of Navas.

'ballplaying' fm shoutout lol

For me if we get Gundogan then Pogba isn't needed and I don't think we can compete for him anyway without having to spend something far beyond his worth. Fernandinho alongside Gundogan or just Gundogan would still be a great midfield. Kun is obviously untouchable and I think we'll move Bony on for someone similar, I'd love to see Lewandowski here but I can't see it happening.

... After that if we can poach someone like Alves we would be looking pretty good next year! It all depends on how Pep perceives this current team, personally I don't think he will make THAT many changes but rather he will setup very differently tactically compared to how we have played under Pellegrini.

pogba is worth it. i doubt there will be a huge bidding war once we're talking 75m euros plus. also, it's about where pogba will sign. pep in the prem is as enticing as madrid and barca to me. and pogba playing with gundogan is like pogba playing with marchisio. it's not redundant

lewandowski is not joining city and alves is on his last legs and moving to a more physically taxing playstyle and schedule would be recipe for uselessness. might as well keep kolarov

Dele Alli, spend the other £10million on a left back. Job done.

this isn't fifa career mode

People keep pretending it is not the players. But it is. From top to bottom, we simply aren't the best anymore. We really are a lot like Chelsea, Chuck full with names that are no more on top of their game.

Let the facts judge who's best. Drinkwater Mahrez and Kante are Superior to Dihno Yaya and Silva. It is a hard pill to swallow. But it is true for this season, and might be going forward. Similarly those 3 are Superior to Fabregas, Matic and Hazard. Again, hard to swallow. Bit that's what the facts are showing.

So we need to stop pretending we have superior players who simply don't care, and admit we might have a situation where out players have regressed a bit, and others have improved. Some by a whole lot.

dinho is better than drinkwater. silva and mahrez are different, but silva has had better seasons than mahrez will probably have. mahrez is having a better season now. toure is much more attacking and technical and much less mobile in his playstyle than kante - apples and oranges. kante has been far more productive towards a winning objective this season, no doubt, but id say the comparison is still null.

Yaya is staying, and that's coming right from the top. All coming out today.

if yaya is staying, then pogba shouldn't be coming imo. having both and silva in the middle will leave little defensive instinct, plenty of athleticism and ability in duals, but little possession holding or backline protecting presence.

My guess for what Pep wants --

Out:
Caballero, Demichelis, Kolarov, Sagna, Mangala, Clichy, Fernando, Toure, Navas, Bony

In:
Bartlomiej Dragowski, Ricardo Rodriguez, Dani Carvajal, Aymeric Laporte, Jason Denayer*, Ilkay Gundogan, Paul Pogba, Thomas Lemar

After reading this transfer forum the last few months. I'm convinced I will be disappointed when transfer season is all said and done. Coz I'm finding it hard to believe we'll get all these players I like.

On average we get 1 player I like Every season. The idea we may get 4-5 players I like boggles my mind ;)

For example, I know we need a LB, yet when I think about the prospect of players like Gundogan Pogba Laporte Isco Ox and Dembele. Something just tells me if we get those guys, LB wouldn't matter.

I know most disagree, but there is a way superstars make average players so much better. Id be fine with Clichy and Angelino if we got all those other guys.

I'm giddy thinking about it :)

Why? Doesn't seem particularly off.

Well yaya by all accounts is staying, we won't sell clichy and kolarov, without being a boring football fucking analyst there are two names on there I've never even heard off! Lol navas I think will stay a season but can't see them names being the ones Dax

One is a keeper, so it makes sense. No one knows all the great up and coming keepers. There are too many of them. Lemar is young, fast, french winger. They seem too be the rave of late., I'm guessing the poster was trying to reinvent the next Coman/Martial for us.

The rest are players most already agree with. Gundogan, Pogba, Laporte, and good players in positions of need, Carvahal, Rodriquez.

Not high on some of them, but that's quite possible.
