Soriano building City's culture club

I know many don't want JCL's knocking around the club but to be short its quite simply 'you can't have your cake and eat it'.

To make the club sustainable these fickle fans are needed to buy tickets, memorabilia and hospitality packages. If we don't then revenues will fall and that means we have less to spend on wages and transfers etc which inturn means lesser talent in our ranks and quite possibly less silverware.

It'll sicken me to see modest income earning fans get priced out and I sincerely hope it doesn't come to that but things have to change for our club. FFP forces that and by all rights HRH deserves a return on his investment.

I'd sooner pay extra for tickets and have JCL's knocking around than to see us go from title challengers to potting around in the league battling with Stoke, Fulham, Sunderland etc.

It's the negative to a massive positive.

Ticket revenue barely makes a difference to profit, a recent report said teams could cut tickets by up to 30 quid a match tge club don't have to increase prices and can keep its core support. To teams like Dortmund are sustainable and regularly making a profit every year with some of the cheapest tickets in Europe.

This is very worrying for a lot of fans as yes success is great , but a lot will end up not being able to afford to see that success. It's not the price of sucxess it's the club choosing to target fans when in reality they don't have to.

We as a club should be be at the forefront of safe standing as I think this is the only way your average fan will not be priced out of the ground, working off what has happened in the past a 10% increase year on year in the SS my ticket will £1k in 6 years, austerity will still be very much around so as a public sector worker my earnings will certainly not increase the same. Safe standing could bring cheap tickets to the great unwashed in the lower tier and let your day trippers sit in the 3rd tier at £90 a ticket!! While the 2nd tier goes corporate.

Meh...

So basically they'll market this club to the JCL's as being apart of Manchester, and focus on the culture/heritage in the area...so we'll have thousands flocking to the city every other week and a vast amount of people actually from the area won't even be in the ground, sat in a pub near the ground watching the game as we can't afford to get in.

But forget about it - it's still a proper mancunian club because Hatton and Gallaghers are rolled out in a video on youtube with their accents and they'll say so.

Be Part of it ;)

Fooking sceptic. ;)

I ain't bud...Sorry I just can't see myself in that stadium in 10yrs time, I won't be affording that premium product.

Well if I keep wearing condoms and don't get a mortgage I could still afford to be a Blue, maybe?

Just a reality.

I know what yuou mean mate.I honestly see us ending up like those fuckers over the road.I know it wont go down well with the hordes, but I do honestly believe that eventually we will become the "2nd Prawn Sandwich Brigade Club"
I suppose it wont be an option if we`re gonna be the next Barca and attract the same sort of players.
We need to find out own Messi/s from the Academy over the next few years.

I don't know where you get this from - the rags are already at the top table as a global brand and manage to keep their prices competitive and accessable - except for the compilsary cup scheme.

If we want to be a top club, then we have to enhance our global brand.
I stood on the Kippax for years. And before that, the scoreboard end at Maine Road when it was open.
Great times and memories.
But times change and the world moves on. We don't always like it. But if we don't bite the bullitt, then we're never going to be mentioned in the same breath as the Barcelona's and Madrid's of this world.
And surely that's what all Blues want. Isn't it ?
Well nice to hear of other fans that are old enough to have stood in the scoreboard end at Maine road when it was uncovered.Unfortunately where I now live prevents me attending often. However I agree that times change. In the old days if you had large attendances which we did, that meant you could compete with the others in terms of income. Of course now thats not enough and ways have to be forged especially after the rules were altered because of the lobbying of so called clubs with history. Our owners have in my opinion got the best guys in charge to move us rapidly to a level so that we compete with the biggest teams in the world for the best players, facilities for fans ,and massive sponsorships. I think that the club will bear in mind our roots , ie working class, but at the same time have corporate facilities of the best and these will be reflected in the prices. The stadium will be increased shortly if it becomes a sell out every matchday.and hopefully this will prevent our loyal fans being priced out.

The Rags have 75k stadium to fill.

The new owners want this in the ground:

Which will price me out.

If the stadium is increased but increased with Safe Standing then there might be a possibility of me renewing my SC with an affordable price.

I just don't want myself and many other Blues to be left behind you know?

Sure the success is great, our owners have been superb so far - but how could I enjoy it when I'm missing out?

And even if I was there and it was rammed with the Horse Racing Corporate Prawn Sandwich types - I wouldn't enjoy the success as there would be no traditional atmosphere.

This isn't a Moan...Just a stark conclusion that I'll be priced out :(
