South Africa are ruining the world cup

It doesn't ruin it. Yes it would be nicer without them but it doesnt alter whats on display.

there wasn't any less use of those horns at the france - mexico game. The BBC used audio EQ to cut the frequency where the horns are most prominent. There was no difference to previous games on the other networks.

correct coulsonblue - when that band started playing at england games many thought it was stupid but its now accepted

I think if I was from there I'd be pretty pissed off that people would want us to stop using them. But that said, as much as I think it should be fair, it's horrible to listen to, there's no atmosphere, even the loudest of supporters can't beat the noise.

I mean I guess if people tried to stop us using bodhrans at games if it pissed people off then I think we'd just give them two fingers and play the drum harder and louder. Not like that would ever happen, because it is a small drum, it isn't annoying (most of the time) and it adds to the atmosphere. But my point is that if there wasn't so much people complaining about them then maybe there'd be less played.

I wish I was above the whole thing where we should let them play it, it's their culture, who are we to try and stop it. But those things are beyond annoying.

TBH this whole world cup has been a flop so far. the ball is shit, there is no atmosphere just a drone of horns and most of the games have been dire.

Agreed.

It won't go down as one of the best.

it was ruined the day SA were awarded it,never heard so much PC bollocks in my life ffs

How on earth is it PC? Its called the "World" Cup, meaning its going to be hosted in different parts of the World. Whats the solution, give it to either England or Germany every four years?
it was always held in Europe or South America by proper established countries,i bet you can count on one hand the ammount of times korea, japan or fuckin SA have qualified, where next New Zealand?

I'm more worried about the awful bone-dry pitches, they seem to crumble and tear up in every game, and who can forget the beachball they've adopted to play with throughout the whole tournament?

It's made for a dreadful spectacle.

And it's all backed up by the stats...

In the Premier League and Champions League this season, and the last World Cup, the shooting accuracy averaged 43.75%, 42.98%, and 41.97% respectively, in this year's World Cup it has averaged a pathetic 33.44%.

Furthermore, the current competition is on course to be the lowest scoring in the World Cup's history.

Add the horns, the altitude and the half-empty stadiums into the equation and this tournament is on course to be the worst spectacle in the World Cup's history.

I just want a little bleedin' entertainment!

*sobs*
