South Carolina Firing Squad

My view is that prison sentences for the most heinous of crimes are too soft.
I'm also against death penalties.

Life imprisonment for these crimes should mean that the perpetrator is in solitary confinement, given the most very basic facilities,a toilet and a bed, human contact limited to guards and medical professionals to sustain his/her miserable existence.

And if we hang someone who turns out to be innocent then the people responsible should in turn be sentenced to death for taking a life.

This will ensure maximum effort and diligence by police, prosecutors, Judge and jury to get it right.
I actually changed my post to knowingly and setting out to take someones life.

That is literally the death penalty as set down by the State. Knowingly and deliberately setting out to take someone’s life.

And then you find out the State got it wrong. Imagine the suffering of that person. Surely, the same criteria should be applied to the those people who inflicted that suffering? Seems only fair.

And, no I’m not being serious. I understand the desire for revenge - which is what this is about. But the system is not infallible and people definitely are fallible and mistakes and stupidity are rife. My opposition to the death penalty is partly based on that fallibility and that it doesn’t work. You only have to look at the US to realise that.

I might get pelters here but my view is that if you set out and knowingly go out to take someones life then you should pay the price with losing your own life.

And you'll get a very vocal minority trying to moralise your opinion without any thought for the victims of heinous crimes, it's like they care more for the killers etc because it fits in with the contrary shite they spout.

Some **** who killed 2 people with a baseball bat and tried to kill another with a gun and they want to start a gofund me page because the waste of space got shot, nowt stranger than a frothing liberal mate.

Haha that’s some great twisting of what actually happens when people come on here supporting the death penalty. I find it bizarre that people are so hostile to those who are against the death penalty. If your child murdered someone you must support them being put to death I take it?

It isn't twisting at all, I don't know what the correlation of a child of mine murdering someone has to do with it, if they murder someone so be it.

The exception to the rule isn't the rule, moral cowardice and lack of societal values doesn't excuse you being a ****.

Who were never at risk of being executed?
But the point is just because they were found guilty doesn’t mean they did it. Trump wanted the death penalty. Should the Po-Po who killed George Floyd be killed? Fold died in Jan6 protests, should they be executed?

If you are found to have committed murder yes, citing exceptions to the rule isn't a defence of your moral stance.

What happens if your kid commits murder isn't either.

Not the point is it though. It was a shite comparison. Yes, he took the life of somebody that was in no way self defence, absolutely no doubt in his guilt either as it was caught on camera. Your last sentence, I can't quite decipher.

I understand your views on fallibility and to a certain extent share them, but in this case he got what he deserved..........and in my view it was far too quick a demise.

I can't speak for anybody else, but it's certainly not revenge for me. I didn't know the victims, they mean nothing to me personally, but I do feel justice has been done, as best as society can for their mindless and innocent deaths.
