South Stand level 1 refurbishment

Went in it yesterday for the first time. Looked good. It was packed. Got served very quickly. Loads of bar staff. Asahi was decent was well in the plastic cups. The DJ was knocking out the tunes, but not too loud. It already is and will be a great success. I'll post some pictures later on.

Did they have the football on yesterday in SS1? It wasn’t on in SS3. Not one place to sit up there either. It really is the poor relation!

They did. They seemed to be streaming it via the internet so the quality was shite, which I hope they sort, but I watched the last 30 minutes of the United game on a bench with a pint. Not too shabby at all.
 
Did anyone notice if the new bar has any wider range of drinks? Unlikely i know but i never give up hope! Once in a blue moon over the years at the other bars there is the odd can of rum and coke or similar knocking about (although once when I tried to order one they said it was a display can only ha) but usually seems to be only beer, cider and that rank wine on offer

Yes, it did look like they had cans of JD and coke and some other bits. I'll have another look on Wednesday.

Take a hip flask & just buy a mixer

No space in the other stands, only really P1 and P2 next to 120, and assume the entrance for 111 is similar, so only possible in SS corners.

JD&Coke, G&T and Vodka & coke, all in tins. Won't exactly be giving Ancoat's best cocktail bars nightmares but better than nowt.

Cheers, got myself a vodka and coke. 7 fecking pound though, so might resort to smuggling after all if I'm feeling thirsty. Seem a bit more thorough at P1 with the searches this season but I don't mind a challenge
 
Rammed again.

Got served straightaway. Beer pre-poured.

Some good tracks at half-time. The Smiths, etc.

No wifi signal in new bar area. There used to be.
 
Loving the new bar for pre and post match refreshments. Had a pint in my hand before Erling had finished his lap of honour. The Asahi is pretty decent too.
