Southampton (A) - Carabao Cup | Post Match Thread

I was told as a counter argument to me saying we have been shite most of the season that points don't lie.

Based on that, over the last 15 games United have got more points than us. That is a fact so I asked the question to the poster.

Nah, you're misconstruing my point.

I said the maths don't lie. The maths puts us as second.

Is that a yes or no?

Recruitment hasn't been good enough.

Gomez, Phillips, Grealish aren't required quality. Letting Zinchenko go was a mistake.

Pep has also kicked all the creativity out of the side in favour of a no risk approach. It's not working.

No, although clearly I live in a parallel universe where people are happy with the performances generally this season

I think Grealish has done OK and will go on to become a top player.

Some of these kids will come good. Definitely not Palmers night but he'll know that and will come again I'm sure.

Agree on Zinchhenko though

It was.

In Pep we trust, we've had wobbles before, but this feels different.

The derby will tell us what we need to know, we've always been up for it in the past. The result is important, of course it is, but if we don't put in a shift, regardless of the outcome, then something's wrong.

And what Mr Mcinerney is forgetting, is that we have two TOTALLY different types of strikers which, when we don't play them together, makes the team rethink how to get the ball to them for a shot on goal.

This offsets the tempo of the team and why he tinkers so much having Alvarez in.

He's done everything but play H & A together to find a tempo. He doesn't like playing with two strikers unless he finds a way past his bugbear.

Alvarez is just as good as Grealish on the wing and , like Jesus, cuts in better to have a strike.

Not sure why he's not playing them together and wish he would.

Alvarez & Haaland v Forest. 6-0
Then never seen them start together since
Baffling
