We won the league fighting it out against a liverpool side who had downed tool and serial bottlers in Arsenal, truth be told the football at times was absolutely shite, as it has been this season.
Not true Liverpool were actually leading the table at one point and looked favourites, then Arsenal had a decent lead over ourselves. We relentlessly ground them down as we often have done over the years. We only lost on penalties to Madrid after being the better side in both legs. The only game we underperformed was the fa cup final against the rags.
A lot of our games can be a struggle as we face what we did against Southampton yesterday on a regular basis. There were signs last season though that this squad had reached it's absolute limit and needed a refresh. Pep in his wisdom thought he'd get another season out of it but he was sadly wrong. We then got battered by injuries, Rodri being the worst one of course, leading to the season we've had.
Yesterday Pep wanted to give Haaland and Akanji minutes before the cup final, but he made too many other changes too. You can't blame him for thinking against a shit Southampton side we'd have enough to get the job done but we didn't. Even at our absolute peak we often had a blip like yesterday. Southampton have often proved difficult opponents for us and they put a superhuman effort in yesterday to salvage some pride and not go down as the worst side in premier league history to date.
