Southampton (A) - Post Match Thread

Both Shearer and Murphy agree that the penalty decision was correct. According to Shearer the foul was “on the line so no penalty”. Errr….Alan, on the line means in the box according to the laws of the game. As always, top quality punditry from the bbc. Fucking Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles would do a better job than these clowns
Does it really, interesting.

The rules have been pushed to the boundaries the last few years, taking corners outside of the Arc is a classic example, never used to happen.

Not really. The ball does not need to be on the arc. The rules state that some part of the ball needs to be overhanging the arc which is what players do. So in that instance the officials generally get it correct

your missing the point about cheating in the premier league with the officials.
if like you say they would have done it many games before today well it would be easy to spot and flag it up.
they are very clever in not over doing it. even making it look like we are benefiting from the officials.

the gap is 12 points but liverpool 2 games in hand and they win them takes it back to 6 points. so taking 2 points off city today helps. its clearly a red card. the foul on KDB was on the line meaning pen clearly shown on tv

like i said its easy to hide because the control seems to be on losing ? but 2 points dropped is just as bad
yes the pen still needed to be put away if it was awarded ? yes you don't want to see red cards being flashed
but sorry both are nailed on given to united or liverpool if it was in there game

looking at the rest of the season i do fear the officials taking over and controlling the gap and stopping us running away with the title ? what was that quote from the head of the premier league at the time ? nobody wants to see manchester city running away with the title ?? funny they never said that when united was doing it for 20 seasons
The premier league have been so subtle in their devious plans to stop us winning the league they've let us win it over and over again. But this has been part of the grander, more important plan to stop us winning it in the 2021/22 season.

But it never used to happen, ball was placed firmly in the corner arc!

I'm not saying the rules have changed but more a case of people cottoning on.

Just my observation from over 40 years watching football.

Yeah we should have won that, we had all the play second half, we did more than enough to have won that comfortably
Apart from have a competent set of goal scoring forwards.

We are not scoring goals freely at the moment despite having plenty of chances. Free kick today, great delivery, goal. Last week absolute worldie from Kev, Arsenal, penalty and scrappy winner, Brentford, great delivery from Kev again. The common denominator in 3 of the last 4 games has been KDB with 2 assists and a goal. The forward 3/4 are not doing as well. Sterling/Jesus/Foden and Grealish need to push on for the rest of the season and start scoring more goals. I would imagine Mahrez will be back in next game based on todays missed chances.
