Like many of the squad, Guardiola has looked worn out for months. He supposedly 'read the riot act' to the squad after the derby and motivated them to give a similarly drab performance against West Brom... I've thought for some time that he's not got much genuine fight left in him.

Hope you're right but if I had a quid for everytime someone has said team X are going to be thrashed by us I'd be a rich man.

I would be more surprised if we thrashed then I’ll be honest. But I hope I’m wrong and you’re right

Two draws and it’s all over?
Fully expect us to win this contrary to many here.
We can’t keep missing chances by the sheer law of probability and we are well overdue a bit of good fortune.
Saints will think we’re there for the taking hopefully and they will come after us rather than parking the bus which is not their style anyway.

the setup and the team broke the camels back vs WBA ? pep now has got no other way to turn than reverting back to the norm and playing all the fire power he has got ? jesus aguero sterling KDB foden have to start then the bench of torres mahrez silva

them 8 players are good enough to beat anybody ? even if we leak a goal city will or should outscore southampton
forget tightening up the defence and midfield city have to kick on right now and play to win the game from the start

how or why pep change his mind set to protect the defence and midfield and locked up shop is a puzzle
last season was a nightmare for pep in the defence but that was down to injuries and no cover defenders and not the setup ?

ok maybe he is trying to protect the players because of the covid-19 last season and no pre-season with a straight turn around with little time off ? but its the same for all the clubs and are liverpool or spurs or united changing and looking to protect their players ??

i hope pep finally has had enough and ripped up the plans and gone back to basic ? because the defence is injury free and plenty of cover so its time to unleash the goal beast machine

sorry matey i was like you why all this moaning ?? but its not the draws its the setup and lack of fire power and walking pace and just happy to keep the play with meaningless back passes ?? its just not pep or city to not smell blood and score goals for fun

Oddly enough we seem to have been saving our best performances for the CL this season.
I don’t think we’re playing poorly, we’re just missing a cutting edge in the final third. We’re creating enough chances to win games but not converting them.
I would be far more concerned if we were being dominated and creating no opportunities which is most definitely not the case.
We have badly missed two fit strikers, especially Kun. We do need another striker and this will be prioritised in the coming transfer windows.

I think the lack of pace comes from playing teams who park the bus and don’t come out to play.
Scoring the first goal is key in this game as it makes them have to come out of their defensive shape and we’ve been failing to do this enough this season as we have been missing strikers and some of our other players have been below par.
I’m confident this will improve.
