Foden and Mendy were never gonna start after Pep called them out after the WBA game. We’re in a bad way when he’s fighting half the team.

Felix Nmecha on the bench, one of the academy who seems to do fuck all, unlike Doyle, Palmer, Delap who are nowhere to be seen

He’s talented, but yeah I’d put Palmer, Delap and McAtee ahead of him. It’s not like any of them will ever get off the bench anyway so it doesn’t matter too much.

It must be based on training because Nemecha has been well below Palmer, Mcatee and Delap for the EDS.

Or maybe they’re happy to spare him? Like they rate him but if he misses and EDS game it’ll be fine

This is a match where the double pivot actually makes sense. It was WBA at home where it didn’t.

It would be good to try Debruyne there though to get him on the ball more, either with Gundo or Fernandinho.

I think he’s gone Rodri because of their set piece threat, which sort of sums up our more worried about the opposition than ourselves approach of recent times.

I think the best you can say is that it makes marginally more sense today than it did against West Brom, but that’s hardly an endorsement. It’s another painfully slow, lightweight line up and my money’s on defeat being the result as a consequence
