Southampton fans coming out today

I met a few Arsenal fans yesterday who were unusually friendly which was a surprise. Most of the Saints fans were ok but there were a few gobby ones. Baker Street area was great before and after the game. Just drinking in the sun with everyone mixing.

It was understandable they were gutted at the end of the game. Chatted to a few Saints but they said our support was shit for 90mins. I said we were great from 80 mins onwards.

A friend of mine who runs a bookshop in Petersfield somewhat poetically summed them up when he once told me

“They’re all fakin scummers mush”
Westwood?
I was on a train passing through Southampton yesterday at 7.30am and it was chocker with the clowns. Forever in the shadow of Pompey and as a city it's like a pre communist Russian town. It's fans reflect that - bleak and unwelcoming. And calling another city around it being a town full of P***s is more than ironic when they have an area like St Mary's

Surprised they were acting the hard men yesterday as they shit themselves if Pompey look at them. Our boys are not known for turning the other cheek so would have thought we gave as good as we got. Watched the match on TV while on holiday in Cornwall. City , pasty and Cornish Tribute bitter a perfect Saturday.

On the last night train back to Gerard’s Cross and sat in front of a group of Southampton fans who to be fair were fine apart from one ‘gobby fan’ (we all have them) who couldn’t help himself and mentioned something about the charges (he said cheating) and the money and ‘lack of fans.

We just asked him about Rupert Lowe….his mates just told him to pipe down.

Was going to get the car after the match and was getting called all sorts from a couple of them but all I could do was laugh :)

Anything up to 37,000 Southampton fans there yesterday according to various media outlets, and yet they can only muster a 28,000 average capacity at home in a 32,000 stadium. Very odd.
It’s not that odd really. Smaller clubs often take more than their average attendance to Wembley. What’s odd is them calling out our support and implying they have more fans than us. Same with Forest last year who haven’t had a higher average league attendance than us since 1899!

Not that you're generalising, or anything?

I was just about to post how surprised I was to read this thread - and that it's a shame that some City fans will now forever despise all things Southampton as a result of these thugs' behaviour.

Then I read yours.
Just banter mate, i wouldn't take it to heart.
We've got knuckle dragging fans too.

There was a lot of small time, first game of the season gobby wankstains “supporting” them yesterday, the shit they were coming out with is what the premier league and red cartel cunts have done to our image. We had two gobby cunts come up to me and my 17 year old and tried to give us shit on the walk back to the car, the young un wasn’t for taking it and shut the gobby one up. I was talking to his mate who was wuite sound, said his mate was actually a rag, just there for the day, I suspect there were a lot of them of similar background yesterday. Soft Scummer cunts

Unfortunately this country is infested with rags and dippers, haven’t the balls to support their local club.

We gave them hope. They thought they had the winner. 10 minutes later it was gone…all of it. They’re bound to be upset. Big day out shattered. If they go up they had better get used to it though.

Every set of supporters thinks they are special. The truth is that every team in the top two divisions and some below could easily fill half of Wembley. The underdogs will out sing the favourites. The million dollar question is what happens to them afterwards. They don’t realise it’s a one off and think they have a Worldwide fanbase all of a sudden.

The first World problem is that a SF vs a Championship team is not special to us and that would be the case for any team that has been to Wembley 30 odd times in the last 15 years. Let’s see what their support is truly like in the PL when they play us ;-)
