Southampton (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

A dull watch that one. It was a bit too easy and we were pedestrian, for large parts. Manuel and Dias were continually free, in space, but were very, very conservative in their approach, so opportunities were not created that could have been. A good first half by Nunes, and another excellent performance from Gvardiol. We are missing the creativity of KDB, Rodri, and Bobb, allied to yet more injuries with Grealish and Doku. In that sense, any win is very welcome.

My son has done an average position of the ball heatmap for this game.

Southampton deserve some praise too, that wasn't a typical 11 men behind the ball type performance. They actually pressed at times and at moments played through our press easily.

Difficult while teams come and make it a frustrating game, and they say it’s us that’s ruining the game. Basically 21 players in or around the 18 yard box.
To be fair to teams at the bottom, they are allowed to stack the box. They have come for one thing as a maximum, and that's a draw.
It's the teams like Arsenal who should have more courage in their play. They are the ones ripping off spectators.

Happy with the 3 pts.

not sure we can do much more than we are doing at present with injuries and also the way teams are setting up ...I know teams have been doing it for the past few seasons but its actually now 10 outfield players inside the 18yd box where as it used to be 10 outfield players inside their own half....

Pep really has destroyed this league and long may it continue

Tough to watch at times especially in the second half. We need to put more of our chances away as it felt as though we were hanging on a bit at the end even though they didn't create much.
They moved the ball about well but our lack of a cutting edge was disappointing. Haaland looked shattered at the end.
