Southampton (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

I've seen various iterations of City success. There was the breathtaking Aguero, Tevez, Negredo attack that was rightly described as the 'best team in the world by Alan Hansen.
I've seen the Yaya system where we toyed with teams for 45 minutes then steamrollered through them in the second half ..
and now the Pep machine ,choking opponents to death which is far the most successful but sometimes the least watchable.

Firstly well played Southampton.
One of best performances playing out from the back we’ve played against.
Luckily lacking upfront.
Thought we were pretty poor all in all, though we had more than enough chances to make it a comfortable afternoon, but we didn’t.
I had a feeling it’d be a close game, more so when I was seeing comments like ‘Haaland will score 6’ and ‘it could be a cricket score’
3 points and we move on.
With the game tomorrow it was important we got the win above all else.
Ramsdale played well. Some of his passes were excellent and broke our press a few times. He was probably the man of the match as overall had a good game.

I dont usually throw out the spoilt card but come on , just because we are used to beautiful football doesnt mean the lads can do it all the time, all these buses means the games are a slog , games against the bigger teams who have to try and win are better for us
If the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid come to pack their defence at the Etihad, it can't be surprising that Southampton and others do. It doesn't make for an exciting watch though.

Job done but not in the manner it should have been.

Far from convincing and the problems displayed over the last few weeks aren't showing signs of fading.

One major positive is that we actually looked to supply haaland a lot more than we have been of late, credit to today's wingers for at least giving him something to attack.

Also shout out to the set piece coach. Our set pieces last 3 games have been dramatically better than before, we're putting the ball into good areas and look an actual threat from them instead of hitting the first man every single time. Let's hope they continue to improvement ad even with a relatively small squad it's a big source of goals we're not making the most of.

Fair play to Southampton, played some good stuff at times just don't have the quality up top. reminded me of a Swansea from a decade ago. They beat our press really easily at times, partly good play from them but also another sign that our press has turned to shit.

it's nowhere near the sharpness we're used to and that it needs to be at, it's very easy to play around and once they do, there's at least 6 players out of the game, needs sharpening up and if the players don't have the legs to do it anymore then we have to stop doing it because it's going to cost us dearly at this rate.

They are gonna be run a bit into the ground.

No Doku, Grealish, KdB, Bobb. Thats 4 attackers missing. This means the only depth is McAtee (Gundogan and Kova are the CDM imo).

I think Pep HAS to give McAtee some minutes, at the very least to rest the attack somewhat. I dont care too much about Tottenham, but we cant rotate much other than play McAtee.
