Southampton (H) Post Match Thread

Hughes in Post-Match Interview: “As I said before the match, we had a plan to play City. And want to commend our management and logistics team for executing it to perfection, as you can see, we got to the ground on time, finished the match, and are on our way back to Southampton with the minimum of fuss or delay. Well done, lads!”

Can't believe we've just won 6 - 1 and played some beautiful football and the last 2 pages are about finding any negative possible.
Only thing left to discuss! ;-)

My plaudits of how good El Mago, Raheem, and John were are getting a bit boring.

I don’t know where you are seeing that. Both blueinsa and myself both said today was a top performance, but both pointedout, honestly nand truthfully, that Mendy is a concern. He was the only (minor) downside on an otherwise great performance. Read what Pep said about our defending. I don’t think he was too happy.

Obviously the plan wasn’t dynamic enough, obviously.

Pessimistic folk will always concentrate on negatives,it comes natural to their way of thinking,i dont think its a case of making extra effort to find them.

Plus,its discussion,and thats,generally,a good thing.

Great performance by all except Mendy who I found frustrating to say the least. Other than that Top of the league by 2 points with +29 GD just need a repeat performance against the Rags next week.
I don’t think Pep was impressed by Mendy and interesting enough his is the only outfield position without serious competition. I can see our manager addressing that in the next two transfer windows.

We are absolutely blessed to have the three of them but when Raz starts on the right and Sane on the left we have a beautiful symmetry to our play. Sanes pace and left foot allows us to make the pitch even wider giving room to the two silvas to further exploit and weave their magic.

Game was over after 15 mins, another brilliant attacking performance from the Champions. Sterling MOTM. Would love this to be the score against Stretford.

That could have been 12-3 and it wouldn’t have been a ridiculous score line for the chances for each side

Other than KDB,and maybe Delph, thats our best starting 11 for me.
