The performance from us yesterday was not good enough, end of story.

If we lose the next two matches, at a possible nine points behind it will be almost impossible this season given how improved our rivals are.

9 points is doable but at the same time it almost certainly means we would have to go unbeaten until the end of season.

If we have any more repeats of yesterday's weary showing, I'll be more than happy with a top 4 finish this season.

I suspect that our situation around Christmas may prompt at least an enquiry about him.
Even if we have a go for him, we won't get him.

I thought yesterday was our poorest display for ... well since the CL final actually. As usual the fault is Pep' for rotating or for messing with the formation or for some other offence committed that some of our thin skinned fans imagine. The fact is that we didn't win because our lads played crap, collectively and, with one or two exceptions, individually. Never have we seen so many misplaced passes, the ball given away in dangerous areas so often, players in possession standing still waiting for a bit of movement so they could pass the ball and players failing to control simple 5 yard passes. But yesterday Ferna was in the team and no-one was played out of position or in a position they are not used to. It can be argued that Southampton, like Chelsea last May, pressed high but the fact is that yesterday we simply played rubbish.

It does happen and City fans should know by now that it is an exception, a rarity in fact. We should know by now that it has little influence on future performances and results. We haven't played Chelsea or Liverpool yet and we certainly haven't lost to them. And before we have too many nervous breakdowns in our ranks, some might like to consider just how much stronger our rivals are. Liverpool still look an injury away from complete disaster, still have energy but little creativity in midfield. Chelsea have Lukaku and Saul but it remains to be seen whether this can turn them into title winners. And United?

True but the PSG game is one we could lose and still easily qualify from the group.

this sort of game always happens every season and we get pumped up about nothing really ?
we don't have a divine right to win home or away and we have to go and earn the 3 points with our quality
i point out (quality) even they have days off because they are only human as well

we have to respect the premier league for being the league it is with all the teams different and adds something to the game. nobody rolls over just because you think your champions and spent this on a player or have pep as manager

look yesterday was a hard game and southampton deserved the draw even if they walked off winners nobody could say we got done over or cheated.. yes city and pep could have done something different and maybe moved the ball quicker and work the keeper more but it was just one of them games

We're coached to slow down the game, and to set ourselves defensively rather than bombing forward. It's Pep's solution to getting countered, to play the game at our pace.

Counter attacks still have to be stopped, 50-50s still have to be won, turnovers in possession in our favour still need to be exploited before the opposition can re-organise. Being such a one-paced team does us no favours in these aspects of the game. A player can be strong, athletic and quick and can still be poised and clear of thought in executing the right pass at the right time. We can't always expect to have 80% possession in a game.
