Foden scored his first ever hattrick in the derby and sat out the next game, nobody said it was harsh on him. Mahrez himself was regularly benched last season despite being our best forward. Not sure why people think it's any different for Grealish. Its simple rotation, Pep needs as many players fit and performing as possible. It makes total sense to play mahrez today.

Gundogan needs to tell his woman to keep quiet rather than criticising Mancs cuisine. It may have cost him his place.

Shame for Grealish. Thought he warranted a start. Also means Foden in the left.

Mahrez better take the chance. Otherwise he's coming off at 60 mins.

Pep seems to be making much more use of the subs this season, so he's' probably coming off after 60 mins anyway

Ake at left back will take away our fluidity. Foden will have to stay very wide as there’ll be no overlapping. And the right flank is stunted a bit by an out of form Mahrez. Definitely handicapping ourselves a bit but obviously we should still have more than enough. Southampton would be wise to funnel us to our left in build up as the better passing (Akanji and Cancelo) is on the right side. I don’t hate the team but I don’t love it either.

It’s not unexpectedly. It’s just squad rotation. We play two games a week and a lot of players, especially up front, will be in and out. It’s happened a lot over the past several years. Nowt new or out of the blue.
