Southampton (N) | FAC | Post Match Thread

Southampton were well drilled and solid defensively. We struggled to make inroads, and our fringe players where't sharp enough up front, which is understandable given the lack of competitive game time.

Got there in the end.

Foden did okay. Found space a few times and was ignored. Don't think he's a100% fit if I'm being honest. Probably needs a few weeks off in the summer rather than going to the World Cup.

Don't think he's going to have to worry about the World Cup dont see how he makes that squad at this point

How can a young lad, who's not coming back from injury and not played every week NOT be 100 per cent fit??

He should absolutely be bang up for a semi final and should be giving his manager a conundrum to if he starts him in the next few games.

He's probably made Peps mind up for him after today - he wont feature much for the remainder of the season.

Severe lack of finishing of late. 24 shots v West Ham and just 1 fluked goal from it and 2 dropped points. 28 shots v Burnley and a nervy 1 nil win. 26 shots today and 2 late goals to save us wih a deflected shot. Thats 78 shots resulting in a fluke, a deflection and 2 normal goals.
Womens team are just as bad, so must be a club thing where we just do zero on the training ground on finishing.

I thought 1st half we looked a yard off the pace. Understandable considering the amount of games some of the team have played. I thought the subs made all the difference. Well done city, another final. A bit shout out to all the blues who went to Wembley

Team that finished the game was probably the one we should have started with but maybe some players are fatigued and the medical staff will have all the info. But some big decisions need to be made soon about some players.

Marmoush, still not convinced by him, obviously he is no Alvarez, but he isn’t a number 9 and can’t play wide. Maybe we can convert him to a midfielder but he is lightweight.

Tijani is at his best when he can ghost into scoring positions and rypunning beyond the forwards, we currently don’t play like that. By all accounts he has moved out of his house as well so maybe he is going back to Italy.

Phil, my heart aches for him. His body just can’t do what is brain is telling him. Is he ill, is his confidence shot, has he burnt out?

RAN still not sure what he offers other than giving Nico a rest every so often.

But it’s another final, plenty of teams would swap positions with us.

They were nearly willing us to lose, so that it'd be a two fingers to Pep.
Some of them, maybe.

Anybody who seriously thinks that way isn't a City fan, never mind how they might protest.

Around November/December, seeing how we were defending and how Arsenal were relentlessly bludgeoning everybody before them, I didn't think that we had a chance of the title. I probably posted as much.

I'll be absolutely thrilled if we pull off the treble - I'll even put up with the taunts from the others who always said that we might (with no justification at all :-) ).

But yes, you may be right about some :-/

Wha is going on with Foden. He was atrocious today. Worst game I think I’ve ever seen him play
I think very few people know what's troubling him, maybe Pep does though .... Fodens dip in form is alarming, he just doesn't play with the confidence he once displayed, he's passing poorly, getting caught in possession, seemingly afraid to put in the long shots that saw him score plenty of goals, creaating very little, he doesnt even look happy .... i wish I knew the answer .... I'm not even sure any other club would take him on the way he is now.
