Southampton (N) | FAC | Post Match Thread

I can remember when Gundogan was scapegoated in his early time at City.
Big gamble, glass ankles, not good enough etc
Didn't turn out too bad for him in the end did it?
More recently Nunes who made that unfortunate slip against the rags got slated, get rid, not good enough.
Mahrez got stick for missing a pen , even Bernie - he's too old now, lost a yard.
Like you say, players and managers held up to unrealistic standards.
Hopefully with Savinho the good will outweigh the bad over time.
I have hope in savi , he has the goods and has glimpses of rough diamond in making. If he puts his head down and listen to pep , he has a place in this team and a role to play. Transition from a continent to continent takes time and patience.

Phil has played too much football and not had enough rest / break from it, since he was 17.

He desperately needs the summer off to refresh himself. He should go fishing with his dad for 6-8 weeks and forget about football.
And change his barber and his hairdo.

Did anyone like the starting line up?

The effect on me was rather like the Porto moment when Pep had to choose between Rodri and Fernandinho and choose neither.
Absolutely no comparison. This was a match where we had to rotate to some degree. We created enough chances to win 3 semis - the players on the pitch couldnt finish. Nothing wrong with Pep's selection and at the end of the day, we won and dominated the game

Spain is a different continent now since brexit?

Thought Pep got his tactics wrong, too many players that did not know how to plat together, too many players that wanted to play down the left, Ait Nouri Kovacic, Foden, Rejinders and Marmoush all ended up playing left midfield, it blocked up movement, so no surprise all went off, does not mean who came on were better, just that we were better balanced.

What a great day that was for City - got legs into players that are probably going to be needed at some stage over the final month; rested most of the 1st 11; turned it round after going behind to a worldie; then came back with 2 shots from outside the area - an absolute treat to see - especially Nico's thunderbastard.

Well done to all of them, and Pep - an excellent day at the office.

Yea that's the main thing for me. Yesterday gave us a good idea as to who we should be able to rely on for the run in (Ake, Nico G, Kovacic) and those that we can't (Phil, Ait Nouri). Minutes in the legs for Stones, Marmoush and Reijnders could prove handy, but we'll see.

Having watched a bit of Leeds and Chelsea, Southampton would have beaten either of those 2, no creativity, long cross after long cross, absolutely boring.

What a time to be a City supporter! It might be nail biting but boy what a ride.

Never forget these days, our time of decline will inevitably come around but we will always fight and always be City

No team can dominate forever and as you say let’s keep enjoying the ride

Looking round the Level 1 concourse pre-match really noticed how many families and teenage City fans there. Was brilliant to see, and I’m sure they all had a great time. Ticket availability this time and the chance for SC/Members to buy tickets for the rest of their family really helped on that score this time round I’d think.
