Southampton post match thread

Top 8 team as the opponent. And we lost 4-2. Nothing to see here imo.

Better PL teams figured this manager out big time, even if we have a stronger team today result could have been the same or similar. Tactics, motivation, determination are crucial things and if the manager doesnt give a shit while opponent does these results will keep happening.

One win in like 13 games vs top 8 teams in PL. The losses against Pool like 4-1, 3-0, Spurs 4-1, Leicester and now this today, we were beaten heavily half of the times.

Pellegrini has been found out in the PL, rival managers just know what to do against us and thats how they limited to one win in 13 games against better sides. Our manager has no fucking idea what to do against these sides tho.

Thank God we cannot play our PL style in the CL, we need to be more careful, more defensive, more clever there, otherwise we would be out of that as well. But mentally this 4-2 loss hardly any positive for the Real game we need to be perfect there to win, with Pelle thats very hard.

3rd place is gone, you are kidding yourself to think we just do some magic and beat a top8 team next week. Pelle will just do what he is doing against top8 teams, draw or lose heavily...
Lets hope United/WHU fucking up and earning us 4th.

Nasri and Nacho are the only 2 to come out with any credit. Shocking formation and team selection left the centre halves out to dry again

this is the most hardest season to watch Manchester city even In the dark days we took it as the norm when the team did not show up. but this is a multi million pound team with so called superstar players and a manager we head hunted and we give the clubs best manager in 40 odd years (mancini) the sack after winning the league and fc cup and took us to another fa cup final and now this lot could not give a shit. forget today its not that its the season as a whole we have been crap and the manager is a joke

I can see over 10 to 15 players leaving if pep is watching and planning for next season and for BONY words are lost on him did he even have a shot in the game

We are getting beaten on a regular basis in a fashion that we never did under the previous manager.

I don't blame Pell. The players didn't give a fuck about this match. Sterling and Bony were absolutely terrible. I remember sometime around the 70th minute the announcer saying "that's the first time I've seen Bony run all day". Sterling looks VERY FAR from being match fit/back in his proper form. Otamendi at fault for a couple goals. Delph was TERRIBLE. Kolarov also terrible. Zab not good either. Nacho's goals were nice, but besides that he didn't play well either. He and Bony look lost out there in a 442.

Embarrassing performance from a group of professionals.

I agree in part. I don't think there was much wrong with the initial team selection. We didn't look like we were being overrun, or that the back four was unduly exposed, when we were dominating the first 10 minutes. As ever though, as soon as we conceded, we caved. Happens all the time - we're a side utterly devoid of backbone.

That said, you can certainly blame Pellegrini for his wank substitutions. Obvious that he himself had tossed the game off as soon as the third went in. Unforgivable.

Pellegrini MOTM for Southampton.

Fuming is not the word that was an absolute shambles.

Nacho only player who didn't deserve to be on losing side. Always been a Pellegrini fan but I'm starting to really hate the guy. He won the lottery when he got this City job. What the @@@@ were those subs? Southampton causing us problems with pace through midfield so to fix it he takes off Fernandinho for Demichelis haha then he takes the only other DM off for a Winger.

We'll still make the top 4 I'm in no doubt but a bit of confidence needed to go into the Madrid game with was ripped away because of Pellegrini.

Hart - 6 nothing he could do.

Zaba - 6 gutted to say but he's done at City
Otamendi - 5 few decents tackles but that's it.
Mangala - 5 as above.
Kolarov - 1 absolute shite

Nasri - 6 no help
Fernandinho - 5 head was else where
Delph - 5 gave ball away to much
Sterling - 1 utter shit.

Bony - 6 Imo 1 of City's better players today had no service from Midfield.
Kelichi - 10 CLASS CLASS AND MORE CLASS.

How Otamendi, Mangala Fernandinho, Delph and especially nasri get nor than 4 I do not know

Too raw to be quite looking for silver linings just yet but every performance by a city player was an exact microcosm for each players season.

Kelechi - why he hasn't received ALL of Bony's minutes is nothing short of criminal. What a player.

Kolarov - just comical. I'm not sure what position he plays b/c he doesn't have a defensive bone in his body. Don't even know where to start. Terrible.

Mangala - good one minute and downright nightmarish the next. Still so inconsistent and a bit nervy back there.

Hart - can't put a lot on his plate today. His back four left him hanging all day.

Sterling - what has happened here? Will he run at anyone? Some have suggested our tactics have held him back but his lack of touch has zero to do with that. Seemingly lacking confidence. Much better than he's showing.

Nasri - bit off the pace for me today. May still be battling fitness but looked a step slow.

Delph - this signing confuses me. I'm not sure what he offers. Just not up to the required standard.

Zaba - hurts to continue to watch him simply be outpaced.

Otamendi - can't believe he and Mangala pocketed PSG over two legs.

I really think the entire team was switched off today and mentally was in Madrid already. That's all on Pellegrini. You have to be team mentally ready to step on pitch. Other than Nacho, no one was ready for this game.

Bony 6.....1 of city best players today...
did you watch the fking game

Poor poor poor, bar a few ok nacho brilliant, can anyone explain what has happened to sterling he's gone backwards,in fact navas offers more and he gets slated a lot of the time,I honestly feel pep has his work cut out getting us right for next season, all the good work done by Mancini has been unrivalled by pellegrini in the last year and a half..

There were so many problems in this game, but I have to ask. How on earth do you bring on Martin Demichelis and take off both of your central midfield players so he is the only person in midfield? We had Fernando on the bench ffs. Why on earth would you play Demichelis as a holding midfielder when you have an actual holding midfielder available? The man seems to have completely lost the plot in the league, he doesn't seem to have any clue what he's doing, it's like he has no idea who the players are and just randomly picks them.

Sorry Manuel, the sooner he goes the better. Taken us back in footballing and entertainment by 2 years.

The only bright spots are Nacho and the fact that Pellegrini will be gone soon. I'd be surprised if we get anything on either Wednesday or next Sunday. Europa League here we come. I'm starting to hate Pellegrini.
