Southport attacker pleads guilty to murdering three girls | Sentenced to 52 years in prison

I don't agree with capital punishment it's not justice it's vengeance, and it's more to satisfy the lynch mob rather than serving any useful purpose, it serves as no deterrent

Even in this case 52 year minimum, many of us won't even be alive by the time he is eligible for parole, and the likelihood is he won't get it either, I don't think many people are even comprehending how long that actually is, it's 10 governments, 52 winners of the Prem and CL, FA Cup etc, he is off the streets he can't harm anyone else and he has been denied his liberty

I was thinking along the lines of 52 x52 ( weeks) .
Which is 2704 weeks.
The world will be a completely different place then,to what it is now.

As an aside, when we had hanging we did not hang juveniles. (At least not since the early 19th century.)

So if we still had hanging, this guy would not be hanged as he was 17 when he did it. He would have been put in prison for X years, but would eventually have got out. Which is how it is now.
The little girls, who were a similar age to my youngest grand-daughter, were also juveniles when this 'juvenile' murdered them.
My punishment would be for this murderer to have his arms surgically removed, have a capital letter M (for murderer) branded and inked onto his forehead and then
be driven to Southport and left on a bus shelter seat to let him either be beaten to death, starve to death, or freeze to death.
Then I would have the body fed to pigs.
Even this punishment falls short for that absolute tw*t.

He is clearly guilty and will never set foot outside prison (if true justice is exercised). What is the point of paying millions to keep him alive? what is the purpose of him living?

He deserves not a jot of sympathy from any cause and should not be allowed to live. He has chosen this path, not me, nor you, not those poor children or their parents and extended family.

He will continue to cost the state millions.... it is NOT to satisfy the "lynch mob". It is an intelligent solution to a dreadful problem.

Clearly, jail is no deterrent, either, so why not send him to trade school and just have him sleep in a communal, secure setting?

And, given the state of jails today, isn’t that vengeance, too? Everyone saying you’re going to be someone’s girlfriend…or worse? You’re going to get shived in the showers and beaten in the exercise yard, not to mention the cell bearings you’re going to get!!

That’s not vengeance?

Once found guilty of a certain level of heinous crimes, your case should be put in front of a Judicial Review Board, who can impose the ultimate sanction IF they can find no flaws in the case, the verdict or any reason they feel the person should not have been found guilty beyond any reasonable doubt.

He will also get all his medical needs met before anyone else in the outside world as he is under the government's care.

There will be a lot calling for a death sentence here. But we're past that.

You can't use the idea that it would be cheaper to have him put to death too, as each death sentence and execution costs more than keeping a lifer in jail.

The US department of justice published this, albeit very old now:

A New York study compared a $1.4 million cost figure for each death penalty trial with $602,000 for the cost of life imprisonment for 40 years in noncapital cases. Florida has estimated that the true cost of each execution is approximately $3.2 million, or approximately 6 times what it would cost to keep the person in prison for life.

So the answer is it's about 6 times more to execute
Send the bill to the immediate and extended family.

How much does it cost in Japan ? maybe we could use their model.

I was gonna say that people like this should be offered voluntary assisted euthanasia but I think many would bite your hand off and be happy to take a quick painless exit
That's not punishment

Put.him with the general.population then it won't cost a penny.

Strange how, in the early days, when Starmer and friends tried to play it down, the photo published daily by the establishment was of an angelic schoolboy. The approved narrative was a non-terrorist incident perpetrated by some peaceable indigenous Welshman.

Now their go-to pic is of some demented looking guy who’s had a 24,000 volt shock and turns out to be a serial cnut with sadistic tendencies.

Makes you wonder how much the stuff we are fed is manipulated to fit an agenda.
