Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales | Resigns (p 34)

I don’t think many people are quite aware of how insane this has been because most mainstream media isn’t reporting all of it.

This latest move (the second tweet, asking to be suspended) is taking things up to a whole new level of insanity though:

Anyone commenting in this thread should be aware, as I have posted many comprehensive summaries of everything that came before the incident, the incident itself, and updates throughout.

The latest gambit from the Spanish FA is merely sabre-rattling in hopes of getting FIFA and the Spanish government to backdown from enforcing consequences (and thus maintaining the “old boys” grip on Spanish football).

I have read your OP and most of the posts and you’ve covered a lot but I think even you have missed some things out like how numerous members of the coaching staff tried to pressure Hermoso into signing the fake statement they put out in her name, even going so far as to contacting/harrassing her family members to try and get them to convince her to appear in the video with Rubiales?

Also did you mention the Spanish FA declaring they’re going to sue her for defamation?

I missed out them trying to force Hermoso to sign because when I saw it I couldn’t verify it.

But I did provide the update about them threatening to sue her (and Rubiales threatening to sue all of his accusers).

Would piss my sides if FIFA/ Uefa said ok and flirted them off …

This whole situation is absolutely nuts.

If I’m reading it right, the Spanish FA would rather have Barça and Real chucked out of the Champions League (something that could financially hurt Barcelona enormously given they’re already struggling to register players), than be made to sack this sea urchin of a man.

Eh?!

I can only assume that a lot of people in the Spanish FA must be scared shitless at the thought of some other President coming in who will clean house. That’s enough of an indication for me that the whole institution needs razing to the ground. I didn’t realise the Spanish FA was like the North Korean government.
