So... Know-it-all Dave is 'hopeful' rather than 'confident'.

Interesting.

whats with all the sniping and cheap shots going on in this forum?

I don't think it's as bad now as it has been in the past. But then again, I'm not getting involved anymore.

In this case he's categorically denied it. "Impossible"... why would he be so definite if he'd been speaking to us or whatever already?

Maybe because he wants to throw people of a certain scent ;-)

Remember Sven 2 weeks before he took our job? And he wasn't in a job.

-- Thu Apr 14, 2011 3:38 pm --

I suspect those two sentences are not entirely unconnected...;-)

I'm posting this by stealth at work, avoiding the boss's eyes so apologies if this has already been posted about Sven turning down the city job.

Err...Sven didn't say he wasn't coming, just that no meetings had taken place.

That was his agent. Sven himself, when asked on television if I remember correctly, if he was joining City, said "No no no no" and the presenter pushed as to why not and he said "there are bigger jobs".

That's from memory.

Anyone who places any importance on this comment has no knowledge of the game, contracts and negotiations. It's as simple as that.

I think the league is beyond him. Copa De Rey, don't think Real heirachy give a shit about that.

But it's interesting for me how Jose was trying to emphasise what an achievement and that it was eight years since they reached the Champs League semis.

That tells me it's shit or bust.

Even in his first year at Inter, Jose was able to deliver trophies and buy himself more time.
As I've said every time the subject of Real Madrid comes up, their arrogance is almost unfathomable. Seriously, they make the rags look like the most humble, selfless people in creation. Maybe winning the Copa del Rey could do it... if they thump Barca by three goals. Other than that, he best win the semifinal if the league is out of reach.

Mourinho said "impossible" because it is unethical to discuss thing like this while the manager Mancini is still in the job.

But Mancini accepted this Man City job even before Sparky was sacked. That could be unethical.

Perhaps this was the reason some players like Tevez and Bellamy were so furious. And Sparky was so fed up about Mancini as well.

The difference is, Mancini didn't need Bellamy, thus Bellamy got kicked out. The club need Tevez (the owner likes him, not Mancini), thus Tevez stayed.

Ever since Sparky was sacked, Tevez has been looking to leave already. So can't blame Tevez.

If Sparky stayed, Tevez would stayed for long. Simple as that.

I think that delivering the CL Semi-Final for the first time in 8 years is much more significant to Perez than the sideways movement of Mou's 1st year at Inter. It's not just that, it's the solidity they've shown in doing so. They've scored in every single match and racked up 8 clean sheets, which has led many to note that if it was anyone else than Barca, they'd be favourites... and everyone knows this Barca team are a one off. Even Valdano has signalled he isn't going to hold a defeat against Mou or Perez. Mourinho probably can't lose. Perez has all his chips on him, he's got time before the electioneering starts, and Mou is his best bet. I mean, if he's obviously 'the best manager in the world', where else do you go to improve your chances?

Can't understand why people seem to think there is a problem, 4th in the league, F.A. cup semi, ffs what more do you want? Or shall we just roll back to the 3rd division.

this excuse means absolutely nothing come the end of the season if we don't win the fa cup and finish 5th does it!

Sorry, but nothing short of a CL win will be significant in Perez's thinking. He's now two seasons into his 'project' and is still potless, and has less than little hope of winning La Liga.

The egos involved here are so insanely off the radar that absolutely nothing would surprise me. Not that I'm saying Mou will come to City - that for me is a non starter.

Doesn't change the fact that Mancini needs to be sacked forthwith and frankly, should whistle for whatever pay off he thinks he deserves.

Any team that doesn't have a manager hired before firing the old manager deserves all the failure they're probably going to get.

If you don't know '38DD' and I have had a wager based on his absolute certainty that RM will not be manager come kick off, next season. In lieu of Mourinho's quote, my post above was in reference to it.

There's no swearing going on. Why so sensitive?

i wasnt being sensitive...far from it....i was just wondering why long term posters are starting to bait each other

That's absolute slander with no proof.

I'd be careful where you tread, concerning that.

In fairness I would be worried about the running of the club if they did not have certain assurances before disposing of the current managers services. Unless he was a disaster.

Mancini obviously is not.

Oh, I'm so scared about slander. Sue me then. LOL.

Of course I have no proof. But some players didn't like this. Sparky was deeply upset about this. And IMMEDIATE announcement of Mancini appointment just right after sacking of Sparky told you something. Ethical huh?
