Spiritualists - mediums etc

Cheers for that lazza.

Could be many reasons but probably an amalgam of a few.
Science was still not as popular as it was today and religion was a bit stronger. They were probably brought up with parents who bought right into the victorian era where this (mediums) was all the rage. Maybe their parents taught them with some of that having rubbed off on them.
It generally stems from the parents how a child perceives certain things. A child seeing it's mother scream at the sight of a spider for example, the child will not be to happy about spiders after that.

Clairvoyants, mediums, psychics, etc... well you can't get much lower than these people really. Every one of them is a shameless charlatan preying on the stupid, the gullible, and, worst of all, the vulnerable. If it were down to me I'd prosecute every one of them for fraud and bang them up. I fucking detest them.

Haha that clip was funny tbf.

"I'm getting the word...nonce" classic xD
Phoenix nights got old fast though didn't it.

Wash your mouth out. I've just watched the entire two series on youtube and it's still brilliant.
I don't want them to bring it back though, it wouldn't be the same.

I went with lass to one as she believes in all that bollocks and I don't, agree goes every few months to see one, 40 fucking pound a time.

So I went a long once as she won a free reading on some raffle tickets.

Basically, I walks in the room and she tells me to hand her my watch, she starts rubbing my watching and starts telling me stiff.

First off she tells me I'm having trouble with locking my front door, I thought how the fuck would she know that, that's impossible, as it was spot on.
Then she tells me that I'm decorating because I've got a child on the way! I was decorating but at the time we didn't know my lass was pregnant, until we did a pregnancy test a few days later.

After that she got pretty much everything wrong and it turns out, I had paint marks on my watch and my key had a few dint marks were I've struggled to lock the door. She told me we are going to have a baby girl, so my lass when we found out started by a few pink clothes. After the 20 weeks scan we found out we were having a boy.

Basically she got everything wrong and guessed a few things after trying a few extending questions from the no answers I gave her.

What a load of shite these people are and this women is regarded as one of the best around here.

Like I've said earlier, my father was right into to this stuff, and he'd have been back at his first chance just to put the shits up me.

Was this somebody's deceased relative?

I'm a skeptic regarding all this.

However for about a month after my fathers death small things would happen in my house, like a news paper falling off a table, doors opening or closing that sort of stuff virtually everyday.

All of this I put down to external forces such as wind, drafts or vibrations from the washing machine, stuff like that.

Then my favourite pint pot "fell" off the draining board and smashed. I bollocked my dad told him I knew he was there and to stop moving stuff and that he'd broken my favourite pint pot and I was pissed off.

That was 15 years ago in 2000 and there has been nothing since not so much as an envelope been blown off the side because a window is open.

Like I say I'm a skeptic.

I've been going to spiritualist churches on and off since I was 10 and in the past 30 years I've seen and heard stuff that blown me away and seen and heard some shite mediums. Some are brilliant, and some are not. That is all.

So many ignorant people spouting the same crap. One of my best friends is a medium in manchester - is uncannily accurate. She works near picadilly and undoubtably has an incredible gift.

Yes, us ones suggesting that talking to dead people are the ignorant ones spouting crap.

I love spiritualist types and have been to more than a few. Unfortunately for them I studied Cold Reading quite extensively as there was a woman who I felt was exploiting my sister's grief for her friend, and every single one of them is both full of shit and can be caught out in a good ten minutes if you know what you're doing.

Your friend is a liar and a fraud and they are exploiting people's deeply held grief for money. You should rethink your friendship with someone so horrible.

I'd love for anyone to explain this.

Yeah it might be a lucky stab in the dark, but it's a massive coincidence..

I do think there is more to this world we don't know about, and you hear of bad spirits, ghosts, hauntings from reliable witnesses for it not to be true.. so if there is really spirits, why not mediums?
